Never liked Butt's game though. He did OK compared to his fellow recruits, but I don't like his game. Too ambitious, thinking he's Xabi Alonso making raking crossfield balls when he's as good as Jonas is at having an eye for a through ball...


Him and the abovementioned Jonas had the same problem, which was the million dollar idea but the ten cent pass

 

Nicky Butt did ok. Had a rocky start but did well in the end. I'll forever be grateful to him for the heart warming story about the pre match hour long dressing room chat from Big Sam regarding how to stop the opposition, to which Butt piped up "That's all well and good, but what do you actually want us to do when we've got the ball?"

Seriously though I sat next to Supermac in the Stateside in Consett once, a week after he had a pop at me on air for sticking up for Butt. We watched a foreign stream and he turned to me and said. 'Told you!' When Butt had a ****ter. A smug bloke but if you had done at he had wouldn't you be?
