I don't know about you, but I'm already dreading a summer without FFC football. I'll be filling my time with gardening and motorcycle rides (including a trip to England in August - Bulldog Bash).

How do you fill the time?

I've got two sons aged 7 and 4 - filling in time isn't really a problem. Given that the eldest eats, breaths and sleeps football (and particularly Fulham), I think I'm going to be doing a lot of researching and talking about any potential new signings we are linked with - his appetite for news and speculation is insatiable.

Anyway, if we get into the Europa League, we won't have a summer off - more like a couple of weeks, a month tops!

Get the eldest on here, Captain! We can have some little lieutenants running around. :D

I toyed with referring to the boys as 'the lieutenants', in the same way that my wife is 'Mrs Captain', but I decided that it wouldn't always be obvious in context what I was talking about. I had a horrible suspicion that it could read like some dreadful euphemism for parts of my anatomy, which really isn't an image any of you would thank me for.

Surely you're thinking of privates, commodore?

You're right though, if we're in the Europa again I've already started to get a bit of earache from my wife (I'll refrain from calling her Mrs Rocky), to whom I'd promised that after Sunday there'd be no serious football until August.

Just remembered this whole thing is a naval metaphor and we don't want to get into able seamen!

Rocky, I'd like to say that my privates had a well-deserved promotion some time ago, but I'm far too modest and unassuming.

There are times when You and Captain are like a couple of old boys down the pub sometimes Rocks .... lol. I read this thread whilst eating my dinner, not advised ! Summer is always a bit weird when there is no footie, for me family time and a sneaky weekend in Croyde surfing with my brother in law. Not to mention an obsession with all the transfer rumours.

The summer goes quickly, I have 2 boys as well (few years older than yours, Captain), and both are playing cricket most weekends, so Dad's taxi get's well used.

However, there is always heavy focus on the day that the PL fixtures are issued, when we can think about the potential away matches (before Sky shift them, that is). And maybe a bonus of a possible Europa League qualifying??

Ditto that, My son started football this season, loves it! Got a nice 6x12 goal coming for the garden so summer will be sorted. Then September sees the arrival of another one (gender unknow) so i'm going to be busy busy busy with buying new baby things!

Ah the little goal in the garden. I'd forgotten that. Such great memories, scoring penalty after penalty against my 4-y-o. Have great times WDWW.

It's not so little, that's the problem, was going to go for a full size but my Mrs already thinks it's for me and not our son so i'm happy with what I've got. White lines already painted and ready to go....

As for scoring penalty after penalty, i'm in goal so more like letting in penalty after penalty....

Secretly hoping for another boy as our next one so I can get a few more years of footy in the garden hahaha!!!!

I'm Looking forward to coming down to the cottage tomorrow!

Of course you'll be in goal, I was just joshing. You'll also know he's getting more aware when he says, "Are you letting them in on purpose?"

You've gone big, our lawn wouldn't allow anything much more than 8' by 4'.

Bidley - what's the name of your band. I saw a few there last year, the most memorable being "Hamster". I'll be riding in from Germany, arriving Friday afternoon and leaving mid Sunday for the long trip home. Let me know when you're playing, and I'll be there.

We're called Inanimus Theory (Google us - You won't have to sift through many results!). Nothing confirmed yet, but we were approached as early as last year. Hopefully something will materialise!

I'll be spending most of this summer volleying banter to and from my QPR-supporting mate - next season will be that little bit more interesting

I'll be spending my summer locked in my studio (by my wife) trying to make my sythesizers sound like Jean-Michel Jarre or Kraftwerk - and failing miserably. Again! I shall re-imerge in late July to pick up the pre-season copy of 4-4-2 to see where they predict we will finish.
