Serious point though; we don't want them getting the benefit of a new manager bounce thing just as we're all entering the home straight. Crazy decision really, he's probably as good a manager as they're likely to find. I kind of liked him.
Blast! We need to beat them at home. No new manager winning streak please. Does Mark Hughes need a reference for the job? Happy to oblige. More seriously, are there any serious contenders around at present?? McDermott might end up with us next season if thinks go badly.....hope not.
I dont understand the Reading board taking this decision at this stage of the season with only 9 games to go. Would you be happy if we did that? I would prefer a change earlier in the season when a new manager had time to make a difference.
Ridiculous decision. They're having a great season considering what they've spent. They have no right to even still be in the hunt. Its amazing he got them promoted in the first place.
No PL standard manager will take that result if he has any sense, They still have both Man clubs liverpool and Arsenal to play. PDC is favourite, Hughes is only 6th fav. I did like this from their board. Maguire wrote: For oxf*rd's sake. I hope we hire someone really **** now so I can be really angry. ---- Mark Hughes hopefully.
If they did sign Hughes, it would save the club a shed load of money in wages for the unexpired part of his contract. Can't see that happening though, how would he have the time to arrange his interview of Reading Football Club in such a short space of time?
Yes, I always felt that the manager was probably better quality than his team, and his team was the best quality Reading's resources would allow. I can't see a new manager bounce, even with Adkins. Reading may not only have sealed their fate and thus be relegated, but without McDermott (and if they don't get Adkins) may well slump in the Championship next season.
I'm massively surprised by this - unless they have been courting a big-name replacement. He always came across as likeable, capable and level-headed. He's done wonders during his time there and they're still competing at this level - albeit having to put in their best shift every game to get anything. Feel sorry for him and am convinced this will definitely relegate them.
The sad thing about this sacking is that Matt Lucus has done really well at Reading with no money. Okay he is a 'yes man' and 'boring as hell' but a silly move by them i think. They have yet to play ManU/Arse away next and also have tough games at Nowich/Fulham/west Ham as well as having Liverpool/City/Saints/QPR at home? Going down. Feel for the Reading fans (even after the s##te they have said about us, Faulingate and going bust) because that Russian bloke who took over is a muppet that doesn't have money but talks a good game. His Dad is a Russian Mafia boss who has the money and the boy is a playboy complete with 'tasty' girlfriend. The same lot wanted to buy Everton but after Everton looked at the company they stayed clear. He says funds were avalible but nothing happened. Boosting because they put a bid in for the Spurs boy Sidgisson knowing it was too late and was never gonna happen. Did the same with the Ince boy from Blackpool, once again 'too late' and dad said 'stay clear'. All of that to keep the fans happy and what did they do... bring in a non league guy called 'hope' The Reading fans caused this sacking after complaining about their position and calling him 'McDonut'. Most of those fans are the ones that have been leaving 15minutes before the end and missed those comebacks so they got what they wanted. Anyway too little too late. It really is good news for us because those players played for him.
Theres a lot of similarities between them and Wolves, lets see if they get a proper manager whos NPC standard or a guy well out of his depth.
