Show me an example where I've been abusive to you guys barring a picture of a pink handbag. And yes, I did just type that haha.
Sorry to mention the 'accessory' from last night, Beef, nothing personal intended The choice of colour was quite appropriate, actually. I can visualise peoples faces taking on a similar hue as they type furiously, brows furrowed, scowls etched.....
How about your *hilarious almost daily pops at "eel munchers" or "pie eaters" or basically anyone who dares to live in London? (I live and work in London for the record and love it down here ) (* Actually not even remotely amusing to anyone older than thirteen)
I'm afraid to say that IMO, this forum is now a joke. I don't blame the moderators as they are trying to do things for the best. However, things seem different to how they were when we first moved over to this website. Not sure I can put my finger on why they've changed but they have. Maybe it's me!
Wow. This thread is the definition of irony. Great job dave (and that isn't sarcasm). I doubt I'll be missed as I don't post very much, but once the CPL finishes this season I doubt I'll return. I love football and I love Norwich, but just not enough to have to put up with this...
I've stayed reasonably quiet in this thread (sorry Dave), but I suppose I should throw my two cents in too. We clearly have a divide in the forum between those prepared to accept dire football in return for survival this season, and those who want changes to our attitude over the last 9 games. Roughly, these lines are probably drawn between the fans attending each game, and the exiles who don't have to sit in the freezing cold through each game. However, I think we're all united in saying that we want the style to improve next season, with various opinions on how likely that is to happen. I think if 10,15 games into next season we're still playing football as poorly as this, then we'll all be asking for change. On the forum, we now seem to be stuck in endless cycles, across many threads, of pretty much the same kind of argument, and have been for a few weeks now. I blame this on the uncertainty of our clubs position, where we look like we may survive playing poor football, but equally if we get dragged into a dogfight, don't look like we'd be able to claw our way back out. It's making a lot of us edgy. If as time goes by our position gets stronger, then I'd expect us all to relax a bit. In all honesty, we're not a bad bunch on here, and other boards have far more issues than ourselves. By the nature of a discussion board, you're going to come into contact with people with a different opinion to yours, and people capable of arguing and defending their points better or worse than yourself. To me, that's all part of being on a forum, debate is what it should all be about. Take a thread Yarco (apologies for using you, just the first thing that came to mind) posted a couple of weeks back for example. He presented a point of view, which was widely slated by nearly everyone on here, but he took the criticism, argued back where he could, with varying degrees of success. When the thread died away he'd either decided we were all morons, changed his opinion, or accepted we couldn't be won over. That's what a forum is about. Some of us need to accept that others strong hold opposing views to their own, but they're perfectly entitled to their opinion, and shouldn't be castigated over it. Equally, if you find yourself under attack for a controversial view, then the onus is on you to explain why you think it, and try and win people over. There should never be a need to resort to slang matches and thinly-veiled (or not) insults, but thankfully for the most part we avoid that on here. It's sad to see people considering leaving over some fairly petty squabbling over the last few weeks, because I think we're pretty much at the point where the arguments have peaked, and we'll begin to coalesce towards similar views as the season ends. Through the off-season, I see this board as being a valuable source of transfer news and speculation, and a way to fill the hole left by the season ending. Hopefully we'll continue to have off-topic discussions through the summer, to keep this place active. At the end of the day, we're all Norwich fans and all want the best for our club. And whilst things aren't brilliant right now, you only need to take a look at our nearest rivals, and Colchester, to see just how bad things could be, and how far we've come. OTBC.
I've stayed quiet over the last day and I haven't read all the posts on this thread. As Dave mentioned carrabuh was quite insulting. Part of the problem is a few people are too stubborn which turns what was a debate into mud slinging and anarchy. I would like to also know what this means.
I've read through this thread (Horrifically bored at work) with great interest as we occasionally have a bit of infighting and excessive banter within our ranks and one of your lot venture over the parapet (like every club has) but we haven't reached such an altercation as this... Yet! I generally like to browse this board as it has some more off topic and some interesting threads and I am very easily distracted at work. It would be a shame to see people leave these sites as they do give a lot of people a window back into their club especially when they no longer live in the area and I know a few of our lot have scaled down their enthusiasm for this site because of some over zealous views. It seems this site's biggest strength is it's biggest weakness but if you think you're facing a struggle, you are in quite a privileged position that probably in 10 years time you'll be dreaming about with canary tinted glasses and a longing for these days to be back again.
I don't think people being stubborn should be seen as an issue, rather a challenge to make your argument more persuasively. There'd be little point in a debate if you made a point, someone disagrees, and then you're expected to turn around and say "of course you're correct, sorry". Most people think logically to arrive at their opinion, so if you disagree you should be pointing out flaws in their logic and making them question their reasoning. Now I'm not saying it can't be frustrating, and using my Yarco example from above it can be exasperating when you can't come up with another way to explain your view, but there should never be a case for insults, in my mind that's a sign you've lost the debate. Besides, we're all friends here simply discussing the finer points of our beloved football club.
It's like a good version of Eastenders King Of Portman Road 'Ere what's this I hear you've been sayin about Hootun!?'
Surely this is just a football board where supporters of a club (and esteemed guests) can air their views on matters NCFC, football and otherwise. It is a bit of fun and of no great significance in the scheme of things. If you don't like a thread, don't bother reading it. If you don't like a poster, don't wind yourself up by reading or responding to their posts. If you disagree then air your views and try to treat others with the same sort of respect you would like from them. Rocket science it is not. Personally I don't think that you need to be controversial to be interesting but some of the guys on here whose strident views I often disagree with are the posts I enjoy reading on both sides of the style versus survival debate.
Indeed, a good 'rallying call' post DH well said let's hope those that have said they have thrown in the towel will only go away and cool off for a few weeks
