I think that having no Lennon today really helped us as it meant AVB was forced to play more central and couldn't stretch us out wide like they normally do. I think he got it wrong by insisting on playing Bale down the middle - yes we all know he's been great there the last few months but that's also because Lennon has stayed out wide meaning they still have pace out on one wing. I think AVB might have put Bale out wide and told him to stay out there, he may have been less influential on the game over all but would have provided Spurs with better balance in the team and restricted us pushing on quite so much.
Well done lads....you play some entertaining stuff...was always going to be an open game with two good attacking teams...all the best until we meet again.

I had a feeling you'd beat us (see page 1) and I think that over the course of the game, you deserved it. stats are showing that we had 15 shots and 9 on target and 56% of possession. - Which firstly, I can't believe, and secondly, massively flatters us. Possession is not much good when all you do it pass it across your back 4! We failed to break you down, partly because you set up very well against us and also because we got it all wrong by not playing to the strengths we had available. - but that's for our board, not yours. You are the first team that has stopped Gareth Bale since he went central, so you deserve a lot of credit for that. I know Lennon wasn't playing (which makes a massive difference), but still, other than the free kicks and the surging run, he was kept very quiet. cheers for some of the comments about us being the best side yo've faced at anfield. - I actually thought we were poor yesterday, so that's encouraging to hear. As for 3rd? you've just thrown a massive spanner in the works! cheers It's too early to say anything. A lot of spurs and opposing fans thought we had 3rd wrapped up at roughly this time last year. I agree, especially when we've got Holtby who's best in the middle, it would've been good to move Bale out wide as everyone expected him to start in the middle. Losing Lennon was a big loss as he's been great for us this season but I feel AVB made the loss worse. Still we weren't great and I don't blame him for moments of absolute idiocy from Walker, Defoe and Benny which lost us the game.
