I noticed this largely this season, where we are getting much larger attendances, but on the whole the away fans are equalling or making more noise then us. Should we revert to playing tunes to sing along to, as they do at Stamford Bridge or Anfield, or should we leave it as it is? COYS
The away fans make more noise than the home fans the vast majority of the time, whichever stadium you're in.
I've got season tickets in the Itchen Stand, near to the away fans and we just seem to a quiet bunch. I quite like the idea of having a tune to sing along to though?
i can't hear the away fans in the kingsland north. i think it's the way st marys is built, i sat in the chapel vs Brighton back in league 1 and the noise seems to bounce down to that end of the ground
It's 'loud' for the first 10 minutes or so, then the only other time the fans make any noteworthy noise is if we have just scored, or they're calling the ref ****/a ****er. Apart from that it's pretty quiet....
Whilst accepting we may not be the loudest and often appear stunned when things go against us, it is affected by where you sit. The away fans can be noisy, but the Northam appear loud in the Kingland. I suggest it's proximity that make the away fans sound the noisiest from the Itchen.
Our fans are the slightly noisier than the past few seasons I think. It's just that the away fans are much noisier on average
Its human nature You're more likely to be vocal and supportive if you feel inferior in some way. Away fans are fewer in number so naturally feel they need to make as much noise as they can. Home fans are traditionally louder when there side are underdogs. Like saints v man city or man Utd recently against Real.
Also, Away fans have been drinking all day and getting in the mood all day, whereas a home game is more routine. For me anyway... I'm much more up for a sing song away. I will point out that I think our away support has to be one of the loudest in the Premier League. Every game we sound so loud.
Next time you go to St. Marys take a mobile with a radio facility and listen on earphones to the Solent comentatory, the effects mike picks up the sounds and believe me there is plenty of noise from most parts of the ground and I am sure it reaches the players on the pitch.
Simple answer....YES! Unless you are in the Northam/Kingsland corner, it's dire Had the misfortune to have spent the last two games in the Chapel/Itchen corner and it was like a morge. Thankfully back up the other end for Liverpool for a good old sing song
Do you think? I thought it was louder last year. The loudest I reckon it has been all year was the periods we were leading against United, the place was bouncing, but that's to be expected I suppose. The quietest was probably against Wigan, which was handy as I had a stinking hangover!
