Haven't seen the game lads, was in the pub watching the rugby games. I take it there isn't much point watching MOTD tonight then? What about Lamah's goal that was ruled offside? was it the correct decision?
Lamah's goal was 100% legal, mistake by the officials on that one, as there was for the penalty given in the first half.
Oh well, swings and roundabouts I suppose seeing as we were fortunate against Wigan at home earlier on in the season.
Thats what i say.. we cant win them all or we would be top of the league... It was a good game overall valley worth watching.....luck was not with us today and we missed leon badly...
I think it's fair to say, our midfield had an off day, which we didn't need with our old timer in the back line!...........
Too many things conspired against us today, a poor team effort ,out muscled in the middle and I've seen better officials down Ashleigh Road .were the substitutions made to improve the team because that went horribly wrong ,we lost our shape and no leadership .other than that goodnight PS WBA were poor but nicked it
We lost because we din not have the rub of the green. WBA were far from poor. Why were they poor? i thought they coped very well with what we had to offer and we did the same with them, it was an entertaining game between two sides that were on 40pts. they were fortunate to win but we have had that too this season......A very good side who after their blip deserve to be where they are just like we deserve where we are.....nothing poor about them..
They were poor with just one outlet ,when he went off they hoofed it forward hopefully, what did they create ,very little a defensive mistake when Ben misjudged the flight of the ball and an own goal other than that no real threat. it's all about opinions we were guilty as I've previously posted but don't make them out to be something they weren't
How mad is it that we go away to a team top half of the table and lose ( should have been a draw anyway ) and we get upset. we have come far the last few years but lets not over think things against a class team like WBA.
WBA played some good football at times, played hoofball when needed, and were far more physical than us when needed. Our Clubs philosophy is all about passing football, so when we are beaten by a team that outmuscles us, especially in midfield, it is hard to take. Nevertheless, if we want to improve we need players who can play good football AND have a physical presence when required. Unfortunately you have to pay top whack for such players. Until that happens we are likely to continue to drop points at places like Stoke, West Ham and WBA .........
Well i have to say that all things considered our midfield has coped pretty well with the physical stuff over the season, its the off games that frustrate the hell out of me! I beleive that our players re better than we saw yesterday, but what makes me a bit angry is when the same players will perform splendid against the big teams ! JDG is a classic example of this. Overall that was a game where we were crap and still deserved to get something, there are not many times in a season when we could say that which shows how average WBA against us! The defense is going to be a problem until chco comes back and i dont see us coping too well with either Monk OR Bartley in the team. Monk is doing his best but gets exposed far too often and i feel the opposition have had a closer look at him and have targeted him as the weak point. It was cringing to watch at times yesterday, monk is nearly always a yard too slow to any header or cross that is made, he is doing his best but we cant rely on him to play every game and us move up the table. Bartley is a player i had high hopes for until i saw his performance against Liverpool, which quite frankly was a shocker! he was a bit iffy against Fulham too if my memory serves me well, seems to have the raw material but doesnt seem to have that killer instinct about his game,he seems a bit of a powder puff at times and against the likes of premier league strikers he would struggle also. I think Laudrup will buy another centre half in the summer, monk isnt good enough and can only do an emergency job and Bartley is lacking something to play at the highest level, it wouldnt suprise me if the club move on Bartley to lighten the wage bill, he was a player not signed by Laudrup either but by our own scouting network so maybe there will be a compromise and he will go out on loan . Whatever the case if we sell Ash in the summer we are going to be ****ed!! lets hope that doesnt happen eh ??
We lost a game in which we scored two legitimate goals. Some of the words used on this thread to criticise Swansea players are ridiculous. Sure, we weren't at our best but we deserved at least a draw, and some fans seem to think we're better than we actually are.
More like some players seem to think we are better than we actually are !! did you think Swansea were the better team yesterday or at least as good as WBA ? were WBA so mind blowingly amazing that we had no answer to their superior skills ? What we saw yesterday was a below par performance from CERTAIN players, in a game they were well capable of competing in, more or less the same team smashed them at the Liberty so you have to question the mental application of some of our players. Spewing out tosh like"some fans seem to think we are better than we actually are is a nonsense, we were above WBA on merit until yesterday evening so that argument doesnt hold water im afraid. The frustrating thing is that these performances tend to come against teams that on paper are at least very evenly matched. Points dropped against teams like Reading(twice)Aston Villa(last minute equaliser when we should have been 4-0 up at half time) Norwich(granted maybe our bogie team) and a few others who were struggling for form at the time tell me that sometimes our players maybe take the eye off the ball and relax mentally, thinking they are good enough to win without putting the effort in. We have seen it many times this season. Its not about losing the game, that can happen against anyone, its the manner of the defeat, when we dont apply ourselves correctly thats what frustrates supporters from time to time. We are splitting hairs by being objective about a loss after such a great season but we must remember that its also very important we dont think the Swans have a divine right to Victory, i beleive some of our players sometimes think that and beleive they can get through a game by not giving 100% every time ive seen this type of performance we have got beaten. Everybody has a poor game, thats normal for a lower half team but i always expect 100% effort and its the lack of effort that cost us yesterday regardless of the fact the ref was a muppet.
