I'm the worlds biggest critic of surveys like these and will often point out the bias and failings in the questions, and this certainly has both. What I'd say is that the people at the forefront of action against the ridiculous arrangements of WYP have put this together and asked for as many people as possible to complete as much of it as they can. You can always use the text boxes to elaborate. Not going to that game doesn't preclude you from having an opinion and the people helping us have asked for a couple of minutes of our time to assist them. It seems a small ask to me.
You know my thoughts Dutch about not returning the tickets (won't get into all that again!) and think the survey, whilst a very good idea for recording the fans views, could've been far better and more influential had the creators not got carried away with the 'wyp are bastards' mentality which underlines the survey. That said, every little helps. What were really need is city to win 5-0 and then as the fifth goes in, the team run up to the tv cameras, get in line and lift there shirts to reveal a message saying ' THAT'S FOR THE FANS FREEDOM TO WATCH WITHOUT SANCTION #WYP #HCAFC. or something of that ilk. Never going to happen, but would be splashed all over the press!
I completely agree with that, however the text boxes do allow you to put whatever you want which is what i have done and i am pretty sure i got my ideas across in them. Worth doing City fans.
I struggled with the survey And found the survey not really severing any really purpose and couldn't see any real benefit for Hull City fans, I am sure a petition has been drawn up and i am sure will be bought to the attention of WYP, But Until WYP have a change in heart and see reason this north west tiger wont be going But anyway hope to see you Monday because i am going to brave the curse and go to Turf Moor UTT Till then i going to have a chill and read:Gentlemanly Repose
The survey has been compiled as part of a bigger package by several groups that are doing an awful lot on our behalf, so not being able to see it's immediate value shouldn't stop people having a go at filling it in. I'm sure the same groups would welcome other people pulling information together, assessing the results and presenting the findings to people in a position to act, so if you feel other questions could be more appropriate to your own plan of attack, people will be only too happy to complete your survey too. The more the merrier.
am i been harsh on City, suggesting some sort of protest at the next home game about there lack of apparent support for there fans on this matter?
I can't make my mind up on that one. I think the publicity machine at the Club leaves an awful lot to be desired and certainly gives the impression they're well out of touch with the views of the supporters. The only opinions from the Club have been quite frankly wet.
CAMPAIGN: An open letter to West Yorkshire Police TAKE THE SURVEY. Amanda Jacks C/O Football Supporters Federation The Cherry Red Records Stadium - Kingsmeadow Jack Goodchild Watch 422A Kingston Road Kingston Upon Thames, KT1 3PB Ch Supt John Parkinson West Yorkshire Police Headquarters PO BOX 9 Wakefield WF1 3QP Friday March 8, 2013 Dear Mr Parkinson, We write in connection with Huddersfield Town’s Championship game against Hull City on March 30. Fans’ groups from both clubs have been working in partnership in recent weeks after WYP announced it would categorise the match as CIR – the highest possible grading. This categorisation came as a huge shock to fans of both clubs and we consider it a slur on both our good names. We are primarily concerned that WYP will not allow all Hull City fans to make their own way to the match. Hundreds of Hull City fans routinely travel independently to away games by train and cause no trouble and WYP is denying them of this right. We are also concerned that WYP restricted the Hull City ticket allocation to 1,500 and, though we welcomed the subsequent increase to 1,700, it is still below the competition rules entitlement of 2,000 and it is below what some neighbouring clubs have had this season – 4,000. We are also concerned that there can be no matchday ticket sales and that the match has been put in the most expensive pricing category, depriving Huddersfield of vital income and depriving fans of a fair deal. We understand police sometimes have no choice but to use strong measures for certain games – but only when they justify the need for it beforehand. We strongly believe that, for this game, WYP has not done so. Representatives of many organisations have asked WYP to present firm evidence and we are not convinced it has done so. Indeed, no other police force has found reason to subject Hull City fans to similar restrictions at away games this season. WYP representatives claimed to have listened to and consulted with fans, but we see no evidence of this. We urge WYP to call a meeting with fans’ groups’ representatives so they can justify their position, or to ease restrictions. We request that you remove travel restrictions, bring ticket prices down, give Hull City at least 300 more tickets (so it satisfies competition rules on away allocations) and allow matchday ticket sales. We understand that your officers may need to monitor an extremely small minority of fans that you label as ‘high-risk’ before, during and after the game and have no objection to this, but this should not reflect on the treatment of the extremely large majority of law-abiding supporters. The very fact that such a wide spectrum of supporter groups is working together on this issue shows the level of unity between the supporters of the two clubs and the fact that WYP has judged the match categorisation completely wrongly. We sincerely want to work with WYP to make it a safe and enjoyable occasion. However, should WYP maintain its current stance on these issues, it is possible that some fans' groups may call for Hull City fans to boycott the game - while respecting others' rights to attend - and that there may be peaceful protests on matchday. We urge WYP to respond to this invitation by March 18. And going forward beyond this game, our door is always open when it comes to dealing with sensitive issues like this that may arise in future. Yours sincerely, The Football Supporters Federation (FSF) Huddersfield Town Supporters Association (HTSA) City Independent Fanzine Hull City Southern Supporters Amber Nectar Fanzine Hull City Official Supporters Club'
Andrew Holt, the Assistant Chief Constable of South Yorkshire Police who speaks on football issues for ACPO, said 43% of Premier League matches now had no police presence, instead relying solely upon the clubs' stewards. Yet the largest crowds and least trouble. In fact Ladies day at Beverley races has a low profile Police presence, (compared to high profile zero tolerance at football) yet got more arrests in one day than in a whole season at the KC. Where's the logic?
WYP have so little to do, they got themselves involved in Policing last nights game by delaying a coach load of City fans so that they missed the kick off. Keep the pressure on folks, it's clearly working. Fortunately their plan backfired as despite provocation, nobody reacted, which shows we're well behaved and they're overstaffed, incompetent ****ers.
