According to statto http://www.statto.com/football/teams/southampton You have the 5th best attack away from home. You have the worst defence away from home.
So your defence all sorted now is it? I've been away for a few weeks, can you let me know how you got on against Newcastle and QPR?
Dont think any team would say they are completely sorted, Newcastle were some dodgy calls an own goal a penalty and a wonder goal, QPR hit us twice on the break- **** happens. Alot on here would say its mainly down to Fox, but as a unit our defence and keeper situation is much better than it was but with an injury to Shaw and maybe Fonte the unit is much weaker over the last few weeks.
Still doesn't alter the fact that we do not want you commenting on this board........If you prefer to watch hoof ball that is your prerogative. We would prefer to play the game as it should be played...we will get better as we are doing. Where is the football that West Ham used to be known for? We do not tend to park the bus across the 18 yard line.......that kind of playing is short lived and even shorter tolerated by the fans. Go back to your own board matey and go and play there.......
We may end up staying up by having the same points total as 18th, same goal difference but with a higher GF. Losing 4-2 is better than losing 2-0.
Do you think I'm just going to go because you said so? If you don't want me here then ban me. But I am just contributing to a debate and if that annoys some of you then perhaps you shouldn't be on a cross-board football forum? Sam Allardyce maybe a bit in the safe side, but he guarantees survival. I would rather him for a few years than an unproven ladies football team manager that needs a translator Very risky strategy that...
No, you're not contributing to a debate; you're just a closet fan. You're here because you know we play much more entertaining football than your hoofball shower so you come on here and WUM to try to assuage your guilt at wanting to be one of us. Don't worry, you'll feel much better once you admit you admire our style of play. Vin
lets face it, he can not write on his own board as its as dead as a dodo (was going to say Hugo Chavez) but controlled myself. Trixter needs to admit that he loves us and everyone needs a hug
I love how West Ham fans say they can put up with Allardyce to stay up yet they were up in arms through most of last season at the dross he serves up. One of our clubs calls itself 'The academy' yet the other one actually IS the academy. One of our clubs harps on about a tradition of beautiful football yet the other one is the one playing it. If he keeps you up what next season? Same again? What the season after? Same again? Olympic stadium? How many seats can hoofball attract? If you like that kind of thing then fair enough but the KUMB suggests otherwise. Oh and if you read the OP's post he was praising our goals scored away from home BUT (and you quite blatently ignored this) the OP ended with an 'IF ONLY' statemtn r.e. goals conceded. Read the post before writing your inane warbles about how you love Hoofball. HOOOOOOOOFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF chew chew spit.
No, Schad pointed out that there's little to choose between the two sides away from home, despite the fact that the two teams play far differently...we tend to be extremely aggressive, even to the point of getting caught out and sometimes allowing gaudy scorelines, whereas West Ham shuts up shop and tries for the classic smash-and-grab away win (or a draw). Yet the results of these two stylistic choices are rather similar; you have one more point from doing so, are one goal worse in goal differential, have one more win, and one more loss. The two sides have accomplished much the same, despite our goals surrendered...your style isn't working any more than ours is (actually, if you're looking at home vs. away performance, our performance away is better on a relative basis), and both sides are pretty damned close to the norm; the average away points total of the bottom ten clubs sits at 9.8 right now. But aesthetically, there's only one winner.
Ok, first of all, sorry about this but Schad brought West Ham into the debate so whilst you are having a pop at my club, I will just quickly dispel some of the nonsense. Imps: you always say that but You're making it up good sir. Allardyce has had, and always will have West Ham supporters that won't accept him. There are no more or less now than there were last season. The majority however, are realistic enough to know that its 'needs must' for a few years. We are 75m in debt and it is vital that we stay up until we get in that new stadium. Take a look at the thread about him on KUMB. He has at least 75% support from our fans. Apart from that, there has been some blinding football played this season, particularly at home but away on occasions too. Look at Collisons goal last week and tell me that wasn't well worked? I'm all for a bit bit of 'all out attack' football. As a West Ham fan I have seen a lot of it over the years. It usually ends in heroic defeat against the big sides however, so a bit of functional football and a nice safe, boring season for a change is quite welcome. With regards to the Academy of Football, we have always produced top young players. I don't see how you can deny that? We have 4 youth products who have been regularly in the first team match day squad this season. Can I ask why you don't think we can do any better than survival under Allardyce? I know he guarantees surviva - that was the objective this season which he has acomplished with ease. He will have a decent budget next season and I would have money on a top half finish, maybe even top 8, which wouldn't be bad progress considering where we were just 18 months ago. You don't think we can fill the Olympic stadium then? Capacity will be 54k. At the moment we comfortably manage 35k for most games at the Boleyn. With cheaper ticket prices and much better transport links, I can't see it being a problem. I didn't read the OP wrong atall. He is proud of your free scoring away form and rightly so. What I said is correct. There is no point scoring all these goals if it is at the expense of defending. if you go more defensive, the goals will dry up at the other end. As I said, it's a balance, and one which West Ham are too far the other way on. Schad - West Hams away performance isn't a lot better than Saints. I never claimed it was anything outstanding. But it's still better than yours even without the "4th best goal scoring away record in the division". Plus it hasn't had to be. Our home form is what has seen us safe this season. If results at the Boleyn hadn't been so solid, I would guess that Allardyce would be a bit more adventurous on the road. Fact is, he hasn't needed to be, and "respecting the point" as he puts it, is probably sensible, if a little boring. Anyway, now that I have educated you girls, I'm off out for the day. Good luck against Naaaaarch.
Sadly trixter ......it is you that is not getting the point. With all your praise and support for West Ham it is after all expected as you are clearly a fan of theirs. This is a Saints board not a West Ham board......We are only interested in things about Saints. If all you can do is to come on here and try to tell us where we are going wrong we do not want or welcome your input. It is inevitable that comparisons to other teams will be discussed but you will notice no one said anything detrimental about any club until you tried to enter the debate. If we were going to play you at the weekend then we could perhaps understand your need for inclusion in the debate but we are not and see no reason to invite you to join. You say that if we don't want you on here then ban you? Let me advise you that if we do get too many more complaints about your posting then that is exactly what will happen. Be assured there are not too many that have been banned from our board as most will see reason and will join into a debate without the need for wummery. Continue trying to wind the Saints board up and you will get your wish. Your point in regards last season and the style of play fat Sam was employing was an issue with a large number of your fans so much so that it was actually mentioned in an interview with him on the TV and discussed. It was somewhat of a surprise to see him continue in that style this season too. If that is your preference fair dinkum we still prefer open play. Thank you for your good luck wishes against Norwich. As a matter of fact it might be an idea for you to take a troll through the match thread to see how other fans can actually join in a debate and actually contribute to that debate, maybe a lesson to be learned.
Right. I will say this once more, I didn't mention, and had no intention of mentioning West Ham United in this thread until Schad did. When Schad brought my club into it, I had a right to reply. Since then, various posters have criticised our fans, our tactics, our manager, our ability to fill our new ground, even our academy. I will not just sit quietly while inaccurate statements are made against the team I support. I accept you don't want to read about West Ham on a Saints board. So why start talking about us in the first place? My original comment was completely valid and in keeping with the topic. Just because I questioned your style away from home, didnt mean I was claiming ours was any better (even though it is by 1 point). I come on here for a change from the West Ham forums I visit. I visit other teams forums too. I like reading the thought of fans of other teams. I will only talk about West Ham on here where relevant or if your fans mention us first. This is a forum where we can venture onto other teams boards for discussion and banter. I haven't said anything offensive or untrue. I will not stop with my posting style so if you want me gone, I will say it again, you will have to ban me. Anyway, my lift has arrived. I will be back later (if I still have an account).
The very first mention on this thread of WHU is in your handle, Trixter. Yes this is an open forum and we welcome constructive debate and banter from those with something to add. The entry above is simply an attempt to poke sticks in order to get a reaction, plus it's not true; many teams struggle to score goals in the lower places and still ship plenty. You state only a ban will stop you posting on here. if only a ban will stop you Wumming on the Saints board, then that can be arranged.
Schad brought your club into it when you made a typically WUMmish comment. He simply rose to your bait (and remember, you've mentioned previously that you only post on our forum for a response). So, don't claim hurt feelings when you do get a response and it's against your team. WHat exactly do you expect? Love? Vin
You do realise we have scored 4 more goals at home than you lot, and thats not through hoof ball either. All the best, Brooking
Indeed. However, this is a thread about performances when not at home, hence the use of the words "away from home" in the title, and general thrust of conversation.
How on earth is that contributing to the debate? That's just pathetic wummery. You don't like any of our managers, we get it. Now grow up.
