Pixies, a truly great band. Here Comes Your Man and Debaser are two 'belting tunes' (is that what the kids say?).
i saw the greatful dead along with the new riders of the purple sage at bickershaw festival near wigan in around may3-4-5 1972.along with a host of other massive bands including the kinks, captain beafheart, donovan, the incredible string band, hawkwind,it was a wash out but at 19 y/o who giave a ****!!! also preyed with the children of god while under the influence of an illegal substance!1 those were the days my friend!1
did,nt hendrix play whatever was romeos in 1969? i think he was supporting englburt humperdinc......honest a mate of mine went. i was,nt old enough to get in i think.
He played the Skyline, for a Tech College 'dance', as did Cream, Small Faces, Geno Washington and probs more. I think Romeo's was the name the Skyline took on, when the Co-operative got out of the liability.
This. This is what worries me so much for my future. I do not want to turn on Radio 2 in 20 years time and have my ears cringe at Cheryl Cole, Take That, Blue, Steps, S Club, Rihanna, Bob, 50 cent., Bruno Mars, Katy Perry, Black eyes Peas, David Guetta, Jessie J, Usher, Tinie Tempah, Ellie Goulding, Kanye West, etc, etc, etc. I want to turn it on and hear Muse, the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Feeder, Nirvana, Massive Attack, Placebo, Arctic Monkeys, Audioslave, Rage, Babyshambles, the Libertines, Biffy Clyro, blink 182, bloc party, blur, Bowling for soup, cage the elephant, chris cornell, coldplay, Daft Punk, the Chemical brothers, Franz Ferdinand, Jet, Frank Turner, Incubus, Interpol, etc, It really worries me what my generation regard as good music sometimes. As for bands/artists I'd like to have seen, Bowie, Fleetwood Mac, Queen, Cream, Jimi Hendrix, the Who, the Clash and Joy Division are up there for me.
I know what you mean, I went on the HMV website before and typed 'David' into the search engine, looking for a Best of Bowie CD. What was the first recommended album? David Guetta... It's times like those I feel like writing that God-awful acronym 'FML' at the end of my posts.
Just a piss-off: Seen the Beatles, Stones, Floyd, Who, Traffic, Small Faces, Clash, Captain Beefheart, Zappa, the Dead, Animals, Yardbirds, Fairport Convention, Dylan, Springsteen, Costello, Dr. John, Bert Jansch, Roy Harper, (Hull's own) the Watersons, Merseybeats, Zoot Money, Geno Washington, Bob Marley, Undertones, Dire Straits, Osibisa..... ....and probs more, but I'm so effing old that my memory's half-shot.
Iron Maiden was my band when I was kid and I was lucky enough to see them at Hull City Hall in 1990 so my wish was fulfilled! The only other act I wouldn't mind seeing live these days is PJ Harvey.
just realised that no one mentioned the late great buddy holly.now there was a rare musician. 4 me the most talented of the real rock n rollers. BUDDY the film is just soooo good!!
You're right about Holly! Never did see him, even though the Crickets played the ABC Regal Here's another one who died young. Again - brilliantly talented:-
