I don't believe Brownie was the best manager in our history. I'll always be very thankful to him for steering us to the top flight, but previous managers didn't have the same financial backing he did (remember that the debts began running up before we got promoted).

Admit it. You ARE Nigel Pearson!

Thanks for another evening of comedy.

Percy, just because you own a shovel, it doesn't mean you have to keep digging.

Brownie did a good job taking us up, he went at things gung-ho once we had gone up and it paid off, then we got a bad result against Sunderland and he bottled it. Overall his Premier League signings were poor, both overpriced and not up to the job. Add to that his ego getting out of hand, falling out with players, sticking with players who were definitely not up to it, playing Garcia up front ahead of Cousin, or Kilbane on the wing ahead of Geo, or 101 other ridiculous decisions and you have a man who'd lost the plot.

He barely won a game for eighteen months, yet you think he definitely would have kept us up, your assumptions fly in the face of all the evidence. I doubt there's a single person on this board who would have replaced him with Dowie, but we just swapped one bloke who'd lost the plot, with another who never knew the plot in the first place.

But feel free to continue making yourself look a plonker. <ok>

I understand where he's coming from when he says that Browny would have kept us in the Premier League, but the way that season went, it's impossible to tell. Percy is still probably full of animosity at the board for thinking that Dowie would have done a better job than PB - hence his views on them today.

From now, I'm just going to stop debating with him, it really is an unforgiving task :emoticon-0108-speec

We signed a striker called Jay Simpson in August. A good signing, then expected him to lead the line, which he couldnt do. The point being we signed the right striker at the wrong time.

Simpson was both unfit and distracted when he signed for us, he didn't get on against Leeds, but it was a fairly weird team that night. Bostock, Harper, Zayatte, Ash and Kilbane across the middle, with Garcia up front on his own.

At the latter part of the season he looked a completely different player, I have high hopes for him next season.

Sorry OLM but even fit and undistracted (not a word) he wasnt the signing we needed then. We needed a big target man, something NP did not correct all season. Now we have Adi!!

What we needed was a striker and we were skint, he came with pedigree and a £50k price tag, it was a no brainer.

Just a shame he'd been eating three pizza's a day for several months before he joined us.
