You taking the piss? Brownie wasn't on speaking terms with several players for much of his time in charge, or has your selective amnesia forgotten all about the naughty step?
Of the players that finished the 09/10 season, the following didn’t start the 10/11 season as a Tigers player 1 GK Boaz Myhill 2 MF Nathan Doyle 5 DF Anthony Gardner 9 FW Jozy Altidore 10 MF Geovanni 11 MF Stephen Hunt 15 DF Bernard Mendy 16 MF Péter Halmosi 19 DF Steven Mouyokolo 20 MF George Boateng 22 MF Dean Marney 23 MF Kamel Ghilas 25 FW Daniel Cousin 26 GK Tony Warner 28 DF Ibrahima Sonko 29 FW Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink 30 FW Amr Zaki 44 MF Seyi Olofinjana Add to that we loaned out Oli, Bullard, McShane, Kilbane, Cooper, Cullen, Atkinson and sold Ashbee
26 players moved on at some point of the season and still perky tries to argue that Pearson did a crap job. Sigh...
You are so misguided it is ****ing unbelievable, that it is not worth answering your crap point by point, Pezza.
Leicester are going to be the npc's Man City, they're banking on promotion just as Cardiff have done and failed at the last 2 seasons. Money doesn't but success; there's no doubting they've brought in high calibre players but it's ultimately down to Sven's motivational & tactical nous and for me the jury is out on that. West Ham are the division's Man U, they'll be expected to win the division and nobody will be surprised if they do.
Please. You're saying that he should have made the play offs with a makeshift squad despite the fact that we weren't good enough. Then you criticize his 'negative' tactics and his 'lack of ambition' for us coming a respectable 11th in our first season back in the championship. Now you're saying that Brown (for all the positivity that surrounded his tactics) would have done a better job? You're a twat. And a brain dead one at that.
Hang on, hang on.... At the start of last season, the vast majority of city fans said they'd have taken mid-table. I remember on 606 most users then stated that they didn't expect to make the play-offs. So how can 11th be considered unsuccessful? I think Percy is forgetting about the situation in November - in the bottom 3 with the threat of administration looming. NP came under criticism at the time from a large proportion of us, some of it justified (negative tactics), some unjustified (signings - he had his hands well and truly tied). I don't expect the play-offs next year, and I'm not being all depressive about it either. I like to put things in perspective; we could have gone down. The Allams quite obviously had the most prominent role in that, allowing signings to be made to mount an unlikely play-off challenge. NP then got a great unbeaten run going, making us the form team for a while. If we get some decent players in and can build the team around the youngsters, I'll say we will have a more consistent season, but finish in a similar position to the last campaign. As for the NP 6/1 sacking odds, that's well wide of the mark for me. Nigel Clough is a decent shout at 8/1 I think
I'm not forgetting the situation in November, in fact it's the opposite, it's the basis of my argument. I still think, financial problems or not, we didn't have the 20th (or wherever we where then) best squad in the league, we should have been doing better, and it never should have been allowed to get to that. The fact that it did get to that, and we got out of it and finished 11th isn't really an achievement, it's just rectifying a poor start and finishing in an average at best place.
maybe my memory is failing me but in the first few months of last season we had no decent strikers hence our position - didnt we field a side away at Leeds that contained no recognised striker ?
Yes, rectifying the situation with a run that saw us go 18 league games with only 1 loss or something like that. I'm not going to argue with you becasue I'd just be repeating myself (we were 20th because over twenty players left the club and we had no money to spend etc...)
ah good, senility has not kicked in yet..... so as we had sod all cash to correct this element of the side is it any wonder we were in the bottom third of the table ? added to which, endless stories about our indebtedness can hardly have helped the players who were there
Still doesn't excuse conceding 4 at Millwall and Burnley does it? We'll see how Nigel does this season when there are no excuses left.
well if you have sod all outlet up front then the pressure on the midfield and defence becomes magnified doesnt it = a couple of kickings become almost inevitable
Percy, can you please stop this deluded (IMO) nonsense? It's too funny for words! I can just imagine you sat there laughing away as you see all these posters get wound up by your nonsense! I can't believe that you mean any of it. You might even be Nigel Pearson using an alias, quite a good ploy: really slate "yourself" to get everyone sticking up for you. Great tactician that Nigel!
sorry i should know better, its like talking to my ex, she always had to have the last word too regardless of logic or validity
Of course I mean it. The greatest manager in our history is better than a guy who's been a year and achieved **** all. What's nonsensical about that?
