Most tackles per game in the PL, most interceptions per game in the PL, most distance covered per game in the PL. And yet no one notices him. Brilliant.
Yes, great that Saints signed an unknown midfielder to a longer contract whilst no one was looking. All good news at the moment...now if only we can get 3 points this weekend!!
It's what we all thought. Kind of vindicates what I've always thought of Morgan, in that when he first appeared for Saints, he was pretty damn average [yes, I know he had a lot of admirers even back then], excluding the fact that he was a teenager - for example, Ward-Prowse is way better than Morgan at the same age. But Schneiderlin has come on leaps and bounds in the last two or three years, with this season being absolutely tremendous. He has transformed himself into a brilliant combative player, and one of the nicest things about it is that he's dragging Jack Cork along to being almost as good in his area of play. Those two are going to become the core of a successful Saints team for a number of seasons.
I think that's quite unfair on Cork! He's at least as important to our success as Schneiderlin is, as demonstrated by our upturn in form when he returned to the team earlier in the season. And it's debatable whether Ward-Prowse is better at that age; Schneiderlin was a neat and tidy player, you could tell he had a bit of class about him, but he certainly wouldn't be heading the tackling chart back then.
yeah its good...but I guess it means that we have to win the ball back and intercept it back a lot more than other teams as well?! for example if we never lost the ball we wouldnt need to get it back!!
I don't think it's unfair on Cork in the slightest. He was also a shadow of the player he is now, when he was first loaned to Saints. Although when I say Morgan is dragging Cork along, the reverse is true as well. Both have upped their games tremendously, this season. Ward-Prowse is easily better than Morgan was at the same age. The Morgan that joined Saints at first wouldn't have played in this team this season, and probably wouldn't have been on the bench either. Whether Ward-Prowse progresses in the same fashion as Morgan is up to him. All my opinion, of course.
