Ive just found an unopened bottle of the brown stuff in my cupboard. The 2006 Alan Shearer testimonial bottle, use by date 28 Feb 2007. Do you think it will be safe to drink ? <laugh> :emoticon-0119-puke:

I'm sure it'll be fine to drink, but it wont taste its best.

Keep it and sell it as vintage ale in 20 years time.

The brewing process never kills off all the yeast etc from production so it will taste bitter.

Keep it as a piece if memorabilia.

Note: never drink 12 year old sake!

Unfortunately it's been added to the long list of drinks that I've overdone it on and can no longer touch again. Even thinking of the stuff makes me a feel a bit iffy.

Treasure it, then one day you can show your grandkids it while telling them stories of Shearer scoring goals whilst such an ale was brewed just over the road from St James'. <diva>

In the old days it would have knocked your head off after a week. Don't think it's as potent as it was then, it used to be like broth ( hence the nickname, lunatic broth ) but I still wouldn't chance it. It's not like a fine wine.

It's worth something as they go for £15 a pop on eBay.
I've got one myself and Ales are generally fine after the sell by date if they've been kept in a cold dark place although given the age it actually is the taste may be a little odd and bitter.
