Hull City midfielder George Boyd has been named in the Scotland squad for this month's World Cup qualifiers. Boyd, who signed for the Tigers from Peterborough last month, will win his first full cap if he features at home to Wales or in Serbia. Coach Gordon Strachan said: "George is a player I have watched for years â I tried to sign him at Middlesbrough â and he is in good form at Hull City." Boyd played and scored for Scotland B in a 3-0 win against Northern Ireland in 2009.
Scottish FA ‏@ScottishFA GS: George Boyd is an elegant player, good passes, can score goals. Spoke to Darren Ferguson about him, says best player he's worked with. Scottish FA ‏@ScottishFA GS: I tried to sign George Boyd at Middlesbrough, Alex McLeish tried too at Nottingham Forest.
International breaks and re-organised fixtures because of Cup games or TV puts a lot of stress on Promotion chasing teams. All this on top of it being late in the season and many teams are also depleted with earlier season injuries. This creates so many midweek matches at the worst time of the year for travelling spectators .Should the NPower Championship be reduced to 38 games like the EPL or is there a better solution?
What with his eye sight ? Scotland must be desperate then. Seriously, no brainer as the jocks are not blessed with much talent these days. Well done George Boyd. Come back fit and ready for the FINAL PUSH.
Dont see the problem. Its a 2 week shutdown period with no games planned. Hull City are now uptio date with fixtures
Agreed, without it there'd be at least one more game before the yellow card deadline (10 card accumulation) so it might do someone like Evans or Meyler a favour.
