What's everyone's thoughts on player of the year? The first two months I thought Cort was the stand out performer, but then Wilson had a strong few months. Since then, up until the last month Hamer was probably the best player.

Really struggling to find someone due to our inconsistency. Haynes deserves a mention but has he been injured too much?

It's a hard one this year. I'd have gone for Hamer until recently. I'm inclined to think of Jacko. He is close to being out if his depth this year but has kept plugging away to the point where he is our top scorer. Solly is the only other consistent candidate I think.

Kermit for crying at the end of the Brum game?
Morrow/Solly for being the closest thing we have to ever present?
Button for being patient and waiting behind Hamer when he seems the better keeper?

    So not sure

Hamer or Kermit for me, apart from the past month Hamer has been really good and Kermit always tries and is hard working when he does actually play

Cort for me so far, but there's plenty of time left for someone like Kermit to make a late charge.

For sheer commitment to the cause it has to be Kermorgant

Why has nobody mentioned Pritchard? Not only is he committed to the cause, but I believe he has the most assists for us this season... Otherwise, I'd go with Yann, he has the determination and commitment that Curbs got from a lot of the players back in the prem. A 'Charlton type' player.

I'm with you - Pritchard puts in the effort week in week out. He will get my vote.

Probably the most difficult POTY to call, simply because everyone has been pretty average in truth.

I'll probably go with Kermorgant as he's my favourite player and always always gives his all. But he's missed so many games this season, and hasn't quite been as much of a key-player for us as he was last year.

For sheer consistency I guess I'd possibly go for Cort or Solly.

I'd also perhaps be inclined to go for Hamer or Pritchard as 'most improved player'. I know that's not what the award is for, but they've both impressed me a great deal this season (though neither have been our 'best' player).

inconsistency is a major thing on POTY, as so many are inconsistend

Hamer like other have said until recently, Waggy done well on his return, cort started OK , Wiggins does OK but was out injured, Yann

VEry very hard so many maybes, think this will go down to the wire, and what the players do now will tip it

I cannot agree with those who say it is a difficult choice. Chris Solly has been by far our most consistent player. Most games he has been our best player or among the best three. He has had maybe three or four average games all season, but "average" means average, not poor. I cannot think of any games where he has been responsible for our dropping points whereas everyone else has taken turns at dropping costly clangers.

The only reason not to choose him would be because he won last year and we want to share the honours round. I wouldn't agree with that, but in that case it does become more difficult. Kermit has always battled but not always successfully, and that silly red card should count against him, plus he missed a large slab of the season. Pritchard is our hardest "trier" but you only give prizes for trying, rather than succeeding, in kindergarten. Wilson, Cort and Morrison have been generally steady but not inspirational. No-one else is worth a mention.

Solly out on his own for me.

Consistency isn't everything though. He hasn't really been a 'game-changer' or 'game-saver' as much this season. Yes he has put in countless tackles etc, but a number of goals we have conceded would have been avoidable had he not laid-off his man too much, or failed to communicate with Cort/Taylor/Morrison. As much as we all love him, I wouldn't really say he has almost single-handedly gained us points in the way other players perhaps have. He's simply been "solid" (which is something most of us come out with after each game, in reference to Cort and [usually] Morrison).

In truth though, we haven't had a stand-out performer. So perhaps it will simply come down to consistency/best-effort/most improved when the votes are cast.

It has to be someone from our defense. Our midfield has been our weakest area, Haynes has been injured too much and Kermit's red card and injury mean that only a terrific run-in would give him a hope. Now Cort is out again and Taylor is doing very nicely, so that leaves Solly and Morro to slug it out on the run-in.

    Solly for me.

Hasn't put a foot wrong this season, whereas all the others have at some point.
