Jose Enrique is speaking from experience when he says that sometimes: "You know what Luis Suarez is going to do, but you just can't stop him."

The full-back has been on the receiving end of his fair share of cheeky Suarez nutmegs on the training pitches at Melwood over the past two years.

But despite plenty of practice, Enrique is yet to figure out how to stop the tricky Uruguayan.

And he has drawn an interesting parallel between Suarez's tendency to go for the 'meg and Lionel Messi's nimble ability to cut inside and dart past opponents.

"I tell [Luis] all the time that he always does the same thing - he tries to do nutmegs. It's always 'megs, 'megs, 'megs. And you just know that he is going to do it but you can't stop him," Enrique told Liverpoolfc.com.

"When you know someone, you can know what they are going to do but he's still a very difficult player to train against.

"He scores so many goals in training. It's like with Messi - everyone says [Messi] is going to cut inside all the time. And you know that he is going to do this but you can't stop him from cutting inside and scoring goals. With Luis [and nutmegs] it's the same. Of course there are some differences between the two players.

"Luis is a great all-round striker but it's not just about the goals, it's about what he gives to the team - it's about his personality and his attitude.

"He's the same in training as what you see in games. He gives 100 per cent all the time. He never misses training and, touch wood, he has not been injured so far.

"Everyone wants to win - my character is that I don't like to lose at anything - but with Luis, when he loses the ball; he knows exactly how to press again.

"It's amazing, of course, how he scores goals and some of the goals he has scored have been incredible."

The fact that Suarez works so hard at his game is the sign of a great player, he admitted in a recent interview that he was no good at free kicks but is now our No. 1 kick taker after hours of work on the training ground.

He's improving there's no doubt about that and if this player can get better then he is going to be right up there in the world rankings.

He's a unique player and when on form unstoppable, the run for Kuyts goal in the 3 1 was magical. A bit of play Messi would have been proud of.

We have a real job hanging on to him we really do.

    you can't beat hard work.

luis suarez could be one of about 100 players who've similar raw ablity but its the work... he is dirk kut with more skills.. thats what translates his ability into the next level.

example: luis garcia could score great goals but he's frustrate the hell out of people trying things in wrong areas and vanishing in games.... queue benayuon arriving for more reliable performance. Garcia had all the skills of suarez really.

and again Dirk. he's be league one if he had not worked so hard his touch was that bad.

one for the past would be david platt... more moeney spent on a crap player but he really worked at his game and it paid off.

finally example is lampard. he was a bit of a ****e player really but credit where it's due he worked and worked and worked, his move to cheslea taught him something and he went from strength to strength.

Luis suarez misses a shedload of chance sand he gives it away loads especially with one touch lay offs and such. But... he never stops running and trying and the efforts pay off, the lost cause is converted into a chance, the defender is hurried into an error, the ball bounces off someone and he's onto it... he might miss some but right now he's putting them away

Yeah but RvP couldn't score in 180+ minutes of european football. Yet another so called great prem player that cant cut in in european football nor international football to the same level.

I think that's more important an issue for you to think on<ok>

    Apparently it's a misquote, Joe's very "Messy"

I remember mancs telling us Torres was average at best when we signed him before he went on a goal rampage in the PL..

then we shifted him just before his sell-by date<laugh> So at Chelsea they got expired turkey and strikers this year
