On telly now, some doc about him from a 'race martyr' point of view. Remember him against City a couple of times for Orient and he was good not great. No better than Gordon Hill was for Millwall at around the same time. Both got moves into Div 1.
An hour-long special on him on ITV, for the remarkable achievement of being born a black man Kudos to you, Laurie, kudos
That's right Canada. Laurie lives in Victoria Australia, and post's as Tigeroo. Laurie's son still lives in Hull and is a professional boxer.
Yes he did and yes he was(car crash). Very good player in an age when defenders were able to defend. Part of the Big Ron WBA side that also incl. Robson - Regis - Ali Brown and Tony Brown (for the oldies on here).
Yes, I live in beautiful down-town Traralgon (population 20,000) about 150 miles east of Melbourne. I have two sons living in Hull, the eldest is a self-employed Painter and Decorator and the youngest has his own Renovation Business. Both are close to 50 and are in no way registered as professional boxers. My youngest son's youngest son, James, is a Professional Boxer but has recently given the game away as he is earning much more money working for my Son-in-Law in the building industry. I will turn 75 in November this year (if I make it) and am currently enjoying doing some much needed renovation work as, owing to a chronic back complaint, I have been more or less confined to bed for the past eight years and my house has fallen into disrepair. It is really nice to be able to do some work again after so long especially in out beautiful 100 degree weather prevalent at this time of year. Enjoying an ice-cold beer at the moment after almost completing the repair on our back shed/barbecue/workshop. Have a nice day everyone. please log in to view this image
No you are correct. Wiles partner at the back was Ali Robertson from memory. Asa Hartford was also part of that team.
Nice pic Laurie...glad to hear you are still in the land of the living. You look pretty healthy to me mate
