Yesterday Manchester United were knocked out of the Champions League, loosing at home to Real Madrid. But Real Madrid were not the reason for united's knock out. United did not carve their own exit either. It was all down to me. I made a prediction a couple of weeks ago that this years CL final will be Bayern Munich v Manchester United. But I kept it quiet until last night. It was not until deep into the second half when I said what my prediction for the final was, and then just moments later Real Madrid equalized. Just minutes later I said 'my prediction is looking a bit in danger now' and WHAM! Ronaldo scores. I am quite superstitious with my football. I never vote in prediction polls, place bets or say who I think will win. I cursed United last night, and it was a moment of pride. Also, if Fergie was is such a genius, why did he leave Rooney, Valencia and Young on the bench! That would be like us leaving out Gerrard, Coutinho and Sturridge!
guessing he was saving them for if they needed them, but then you could argue saving for what? as the league is all but sewn up so wasn't really needed for that. utd didn't need to score Real did, so they could always get them on the counter, luckily that failed, but see why.
If he wanted to park the bus then surely you would still want Rooney. He doesnt shy out of his defensive duties.
cant tell you why, didn't watch the game only channel hoped to see the score. guessing he is a liability and in an important game where they would probably be defending lots he didn't want a hot head in the team who could have got sent off. any way, all good as they are still no closer to our European record although sadly they will probably end up with the double this year.
United havnt won the FA cup in a very long time. It is Chelsea's cup these days. Imagine if Rafa got them another one this year!
me too, superstitious, I walked away for the last 4 minutes of extra time cos I know that if I watched they'd have scored.
First off, regarding the OP, you bastard! If you watched the game you'd have noticed we were almost tactically perfect until the sending off. That in itself should justify leaving them on the bench. The only player who arguably should have started or come on earlier was Rooney. Valencia has been poor this season and Young isn't anything better than what we had on the pitch.
United managed 1 goal over 2 legs v Real, 1 goal. hardly deserving of a final slot. Real were **** over the two games to boot. It would be to the detriment to see that team with Cleverly Jones Rio and Rooney in the CL final FFS, average players. no wonder they're gagging for Ronaldo back, RvP wouldn't have scored in a whorehouse with a fist full of euros i either game, a poor man's Suarez
and the biggest team Liverpool have beat this season was a Swansea 2nd 11 as they saved the first team for Bradford who posed more of a threat. Keep it coming BBf.
Lol who cares, you got knocked out by Real... again I remember a few years back, united got real in the knockout stages and your classy manager said the draw was a fix. I hope you get them in the first knockout stage next year though if Fergie calls up Rafa he might advise him on how to get past Real, or he might just laugh.
So you don't care that Liverpool have had a very average season because we lost to Real? Very odd BBF.
Rooney forgot and thought he was playing rugby and went for a field goal And they wonder why he was on the bench UIR said hidden quality of Rooney, he hid it well last night
Don't know about leaving the three on the bench part, I thought their tactics before the red card where getting the job done, putting Welbeck on Alonso was very clever IMO: it stopped Xabi running the show and allowed Welbeck space when Man Utd had the ball since XA didn't track him.
Poor little Wazza. [h=1]Red alert: Manchester United ready to sell 'reject' Wayne Rooney at the end of the season[/h]6 Mar 2013 22:31Striker left on bench against Real Madrid is not seen as indispensable by Fergie. Plus: Reds tried to talk UEFA out of press-conference no-show rap http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/manchester-united-transfers-wayne-rooneys-1747478
MANCHESTER UNITED held an emergency meeting with UEFA officials in an unsuccessful bid to stop Sir Alex Ferguson being charged. So the Gill effect has not kicked in yet Amazing what the FA actually let UNited get away with in the prem, but not the EU, I hope UEFA make him do press conferences next year in a Real Madrid shirt with the ref's name on the back AFTER EVERY GAME
