You can't help but take the piss out of Brenton Rodgers though, he makes it too easy, everything from the **** he says to his Blue Steel pout that he does.

Completely agree with this. Also had it been a Real player sent off in the same game for exactly the same they'd all have been complaining about us getting all the decisions and blaming the Utd player for rolling around on the floor pretending he had broken ribs.

Agree with you here too. It wasn't like the goals we conceded were anything to do with the sending off either - we just Modric have acres of space for his goal, and the Ronaldo goal was a carbon copy of a previous chance they had which flashed across the goal and Ronaldo almost got a touch on too. Had they scored after 87 minutes when we were all knackered it would have been understandable, but they had a strong five minute spell where we just fell apart.

What do people think of the wider issues raises by last nights match.

    Namely

The hounding of the ref at the end, Ferdinand clapping the ref, Evra being the despicable little runt he is. Fines should follow.

Ferguson being too upset to do the job he is paid to do and face (red face) the press? Fine should follow.

Rooney finally finding his best position. Beginning of the end for Shrek perhaps?

These should be the real talking points from a game utd were never going to win defending the way they were - not a debate about a card that was not that shocking a decision?

A lot of professional clubs around the world probably have players hounding/confronting the ref after making controversial decisions, so afraid that is just part of the game now a days and its not just United who are guilty of this kind of behavior.

I do hate it though and abuse towards refs needs to be stamped out, but they don't help themselves when they make bad decisions.

I see no problem with him sending out Mike Phelan to do an interview, because Fergie and the players will have been fuming.

It was good thinking from Fergie as he would have said something in the interview that would have gotten him into trouble with UEFA and probably would have got disciplined for it.

Fergie made a brave decision dropping Rooney and was a bit of a gamble dropping one of your best players, but it worked. He just has to accept and respect the manager's decision and hopefully this will fire him up even more.

The media will have loved it when it was announced that Rooney would not be starting, as they can now carry on making stories up about him wanting to leave.

Had that decision not been made, we were playing fantastic, especially in the 1st half and would have had a very good chance to go on and finish the game off and progress. That red was the turning point and even Mourinho said the best team lost so when the opposition manager says that, you know we were unlucky.

Does it really feel that bad to be a supporter of a mid-table team?

The Fallen Scousers should be thanking United, we've given them a season highlight that doesn't involve beating a bottom of the table team!

Us losing to Real really has made their season. Probably not what they anticipated when they jumped on the 80's bandwagon!
