I am getting a bit nervous as with 10 games to go I fear that we will be caught by rotherham and Burton which would mean that the playoffs maybe .Obviously I am hoping and praying that this don't happen and I hate to be a doom longer but it is worrying. Any one else thinking tis or is it just me .
Two home wins, two away wins two draws should do it from 11 games some of which are easy on paper. It would be staggering incompetence to fail and if it cannot be achieved with some ease there is no point in being in league 1 because it will be a very short experience.
Agreed bristol. And gavin, Vale are having a worse "wobble" than us. Unless they improve big time, they won't overtake us, so it would need 3 other teams, not 2, to put us down to 4th. As for next season. I don't think our 'form' or otherwise for the rest of this season will matter in regards to next season wether we get promoted or not. I don't think I've seen any year when the Gills team (or any other team for that matter) has not differed greatly from the previous season. That's in terms of personnel, playing style and individual skills. And it is especially different when it's a different division being played. So, if we went gangbusters and romped the league by 10 points, I wouldn't say we're gonna walk div1. Conversely if we stagger over the line or via play-offs, I wouldn't say we'd struggle next year. In both cases there would still be a lot of ins/outs, changes, improvements etc etc.
Gills teams of before always seem to pick up towards the end of the season, until the last game where we contrive to get whatever result doesn't help us! So let's hope we are promoted before then!
We know that points will be gained in the tough matches against our rivals, as always playing the bottom clubs will be our Achilles heal.
Dont worry, everything will be fine!! Just wondering, does anyone else think that Tom Pope was hoping for a big move in January..His 8 games without a goal started just after the transfer window shut! Coincidence???
...and Lee Hughes joined. We're nervous. Have a look on the Vale sites. some don't even think they're stay in the play offs, and some are saying Adams is very nervous and maybe he should go.
we need to keep at least this 6 point lead over the play off teams till 1st april or we can expect to get caught. The Rotherham home game on the 1st looks more and more important then we have Chelth and Burton away, better hope our away form continues.
We've no need to be nervous. Not really. Although i can completely understand why we are feeling this way. Our form is inconsistant, a claim that can be made towards many teams in the division, But our destiny is in our hands. Who would have thought that at the start of the season? Who would have taken our current position with 11 games to go? What were the preseasons objectives for this year? For me they were: 1. Have a tighter defence. 2. Be more competitive in more games. 3. Reduce the injury list 4. Get promoted, playoffs the minimum. Overall I would say that the team is delivering all of those, up to this moment in time, and let's not forget that we have already had a record breaking (11 away wins), record equalling (10 away games without defeat), and the games we have lost have only been by 1 goal. Who can ever have, in their wildest dreams, imagined that this would be the case?
Gemini has hit the nail on the head for me, we are still im charge of ou destiny. We need to be concentrating on what we do not what the chasing pack do, the facts are simple if we avoid defeat over the remaining games there is an extremely good chace that we will go up as champions
Well a few seasons back we managed to be 'staggeringly incompetent' at Wycombe - when it was almost impossible to get relegated on that last day of the season. I think that most of us will be nervous until we get over the line.
I think you are right, we may not be scoring as many but the amount we are conceding is much lower. All we need to do is up the performances at home and we are fine.
