Poor bugger. The fact that he left a note to tell the lads on the forum just shows how important this Site was/is to him.

    Hope he pulls through.

    Just been over.

So tragic and puts it all in perspective.

I feel so sorry for the guy and can't imagine the devastation caused to those close (and pray I never have to face the same situation).

Thats tragic although I just read an update which seems to be a little bit optimistic.

Depression is a terrible thing. If you ever had somebody in your family with it, it is always a big worry.

Genuine depression is indeed awful and all too often gets dismissed with something like "pull yourself together", which is just an ignorant comment that doesn't understand the seriousness of the situation.

It is, but it's not only those around the sufferer that too often have this attitude. Often the person themselves won't like to admit the issue, and they struggle on under their own 'strength', trying to handle whatever issues arise (work, money, family, relationships, whatever the issues may be) without either realising or admitting that they aren't strong enough to do it on their own because of their condition.

I know this from recent personal experience. Things are nowhere near as drastic as with Chico, but that's why I've not been around much the past three months. A whole lot of separate issues (health, money, work, family) all piled up over a period of time, and it got to the point where I was told by several people to see the doctor, and he immediately told me I had to stop pretty much everything or risk much more serious health problems. I had 2 months off work, and pretty much stopped focussing on anything except myself and my family.

Medication helps to a degree, but having people to talk to, and having the courage to talk about stuff openly and honestly without any thoughts of embarrassment, failure or ego is the biggest single factor in recovery. I've a long way to go, but I've started - and people are seeing the difference, thank god.

I feel so much for Chico and his family, and wish them all the best. Hang in there, and take the time you need, mate.

Sincere best wishes Willy as I may have suffered the same ... couldn't see any light and have two people close to me take their own lives plus my Mother who tried 3 times. Spent 2 years before the sun shone again... I now understand that and have a laugh every hour... simply because after the self questioning its seems the only answer. I spent two hours alone with the body of my late Father following his sudden heart attack in his bathroom and as he had spent the majority of his last few years in deep depression I did see release ... however I also saw something much stronger and powerful in life itself and today I live life to the full without any worries. I hope you find your own way out of your own forest as only you can do that but I promise there is light and it will come and when it does never let it go out and help anyone, everyone see it

Been over there myself, very tragic indeed. Hopefully he'll pull through both short and long term.

Stay strong Willy, I know personally where you're coming from. Well done for tackling those issues head on. Listen to the words of DT, well said <ok>

Willy, you have taken the biggest step by accepting something is wrong, it took me far too long. With the love and care of those closest to you recovery is easier, not easy but easier. take care mate and do as you are told by the people who know.

I cannot emphasize enough the need for people in that position to TALK to someone about their feelings. It's very easy for us (especially fellas) to bottle things up and think it's somehow a weakness to say that things are getting on top of them.
Trust me on this one, from personal experience, talking to a professional is far far better than any drugs you will be perscribed.
As has been said by many already, i hope Ash recovers fully and my thoughts are with him.
