The way I see it, I think the lineup can be applied to all of the most typical formations (4-4-2/ 4-5-1/ 4-3-3). If it's a 4-4-2, then as you say Fergie is probably looking to focus down the wings and get the ball forward quickly. It'd be an open game, but would perhaps give Real too much time between the lines. However, we know that Giggs can play in the middle and Welbeck can play wide, so it could still be a formation with 3 in the middle. ----------De Gea Rafael---Vidic---Ferdinand---Evra Nani---Cleverley---Carrick---Giggs -----Welbeck---Van Persie or ----------De Gea Rafael---Vidic---Ferdinand---Evra -------Carrick---Cleverley Welbeck-----Giggs-------Nani ----------Van Persie or -----------De Gea Rafael---Vidic---Ferdinand---Evra ---Cleverley--Carrick--Giggs Welbeck-------------------Nani ------------Van Persie I think it'll be the 2nd one, so that the two deeper CMs can keep Ozil quiet.
Can't blame Welbeck for that, he had no time to react. He's looking dangerous today, just as he did in the first leg.
Rooney could be left on the bench for the same reason we sometimes leave Lambert on the bench, to have a decent option on the bench to make an impact.
That was ridiculous. When he played it, I was certain it was heading straight out...until it started hooking back toward the box.
