Report says he has recovered from it:

JONAS GUTIERREZ has been ruled out of the season's finale with West Brom on Sunday.

The player sustained a minor knock in the 2-2 draw with Chelsea, meaning a premature end to the Argentine winger’s campaign.

But with versatile left-sided player Shane Ferguson fit again after an ankle injury sustained at Stamford Bridge, this has eased Alan Pardew’s plans for the clash with the Baggies.

And 20-year-old winger Kazenga LuaLua is also more than capable of slotting into any attacking position, meaning Pardew is cool about his options going into the final game of the season.

Looking forward to Sunday’s 4pm meeting with Roy Hodgson’s side, Pardew told the Chronicle today: “Unfortunately Jonas is out of Sunday, but Shane Ferguson will be fit, so we do have a few options.”

United can end the campaign with a top-10 finish and could even take eighth place should other results go their way.

Pardew said: “It’s about us seeing the season out with a win.

“That’s the key because we want to keep that good feeling going until the end of the season.

“After the game the players will be saying thank you to our fantastic supporters for all of their backing this season through thick and thin.

”And no matter what game you walk out to at St James’ Park, you want to win it.”

Pardew feels that such a respectable league finish in United’s first season back after promotion will lay the foundations for next term.

He said: “If we do win we will get a top-10 finish and that would be great for us this season.

“We got a very good point at Chelsea and we looked comfortable, as comfortable as we could be at Stamford Bridge.

“The win over Birmingham came before that, so if we end the season with two home wins and a draw at Chelsea then that’s a great way to end the season.”
