I assume I am responsible for getting the banter thread closed, if so I apologise to to all concerned. I thought I was actually having some banter with NOF in a lighthearted vein and him in return seeing as it had all got too serious in the last few days. Sorry Ze. I had not meant it as starting off the other crap, I was trying to defuse my own bad relations with NOF and t'other mancs but I see now how it came across, I and everyone had been warned. I do realise the apology means fk all after the fact, and being warned repeatedly. I assume for good reason and you know what I mean that I have pissed you right off
Didn't notice it had gone. I liked that it kept the abuse between the 2 clubs on one thread and when it was created it was really needed, however relations between the 2 boards are ok and the thread is probably not needed. I imagine it's easy to bring back if needed again.
Yeah, still, just saying, kind of understand why Ze has had enough. I for one mentioned Mods and action, then I appear to go and start it all off again, so I see where he's coming from. That's all.
There was nothing wrong with what was being said. Very strange decision. It a banter thread that served a purpose. If you don't like it then don't read it. Simples
I agree but still think it may have had it's day, if there is an obvious surge in wums on either board then it could be brought back.
There is a serious point to be considered here. It appears to me that United board members feel that it is perfectly acceptable (probably due to the dirth of interesting threads on their own board) to either wreck our threads or act as avenging angels. Now I have very rarely post on their board and have no interest in doing so. Yet there is not a day passes when they appear on our board like a rash - almost invariably in a negative way. Now I see that at least a few other regular posters appear to feel the same way. Therefore I applaud Ze's action.
Something had to be done Dave I agree. It only simmered down but no doubt it would have reared it's ugly head again.
I think it was more the "you're stupid" "no you're stupid" stuff if I had to guess. Its not exactly banter, or at least not entertaining banter. Its not the first time that thread has descended to that and there was a perception that it had been carried over to other threads, again that has happened before. It'll all die down & we'll get back to "your clubs scum" "no, your clubs scum"
I think that's the key issue. IIRC, when the banter thread was set up it was generally agreed that if you want to post some banter, poke some fun and just take the piss out of the other club then that's the thread to go to. The aim was for the banter thread to stop the arguments all spreading onto other threads. Doesn't seem like closing the banter thread will do anything to address that issue, unless some of the Utd troublemakers (who I'm surprised have lasted as long as they have given how the Spurs fans were axed) have also been warned not to mess up genuine threads.
That did get a bit much, when NOF was following dave's every post with it. I'll admit I took the piss with it a few times, arguably a few times too many, but at least I tried not to take it to extremes!
I think there's more to the closing of the thread than the banter if you could call it that. The bitching also had a part to play Swarbs
True, but it was general bitching all over the board. Unless something has been done to stop or warn the people doing the bitching (you can guess who I'm talking about), it's not going to stop the problem.
It was just banter. Everything I posted to BBF and Dave was just that, banter. It's an Internet message board about football. I guess some people take it very seriously.
None of that is banter. If I came onto this site for the first time and saw that shower of ****, I'd leave and not look back.
When someone posts a non banter post though and you come back with a banter answer, it may not and often is not considered banter but rather trolling for a wum. But I accept your lies
That's what I am getting at Ze. It all turned fairly unpleasant for a bit. there are different levels of taking it seriously, some don't some do, a common ground is needed, can we all go back to the videogame thread and have a love-in.
