Why the hell did we turn this down? We can't turn down those types of offers whoever it is for.

Because we'd instantly be far worse off if relegated as a result of not having him and wouldn't have had time to get a replacement. End of thread?

If turning that kind of money down doesn't convince some that Tony and his crew ain't just in it for the money then surely nothing will.

Spot on Staines. This figure may be an exaggeration, but turning down any kind of offer where the club gets a big chunk of cash back sends out a big message from the owners.

Do you reckon the club is leaking this stuff?

Stamford, you more interested in the balance sheet than the team??

    Secret, it's all over twitter.

SB, just thinking of the future, if the worst happens.

It would have been total madness to sell Samba within one month of bringing him in to replace Nelsen, regardless of the extra cash. It would not only have been a sure fire way of ensuring our relegation, but would have pretty much guaranteed to have turned the fans against the board.

If worst comes to the worst and we go down and simply have to sell him in the summer to balance the books, that’s another matter altogether. I hope and believe that this isn’t the case though.

If we have to sell him in the summer I doubt it will be for double what we paid for him.

£25 mill is pennies if you get relegated. Money from being in the Prem next season dwarfs that considerably.

And why would Chris go? He came here for family reasons....surely he would have just stayed at Anzhi on£100k if he wanted to play in Russia.

It was all over Twitter that we signed M'vila (or whatever his name was)? Take Twitter with a pinch.

Why shouldn't there be a similar offer in the Summer if we go down? Surely that would make more sense than selling our best chance of staying up. I said to someone on the way to the game Saturday that I believe Samba could turn out to be the difference in the last 11 games.

Although I agree with your sentiment I don't agree on this particular matter. He would appear to be an extremely saleable asset and I doubt his value will diminish in the next dozen or so games. However, if he keeps us up he would have more than earned his fee.

Its confirmed that we turned down a bid for him but the £25m is made up bollocks, it has to be.

If we get relegated they can have him for a knock down £20m.
