FFS... I think CB and DM is a bigger priority but I expect another attacking player in the summer too. I would be willing to put my left knacker back on the line and say we won't get Honda or Turan
Honda would mean MAJOR shirt money. Surprised we don't have a token Asian or African (that isn't Assaidi) yet.
That is the only bit that makes me think about it having a degree of possibility. Honda is too old for our recruitment policy but he would sell a lot of shirts in a market we currently don't do overly well in.
honda is a big no no for me. he's been on that move for 2 years now and frankly the money he was on tax free means i have to seriously question ambition and will to win. as for the original intent which was shelvey.. 7mil is all his money probably seeing its stoke we are selling to but i agree with the sentiment to maximise the return out of him. in the end the kid is at LFC so if he runs out the door now he'll prove he's not got the mentality to battle for the shirt in a big club..... he's got to stay for himself if he wants to break the real big time.
I give up, when we start singing players to sell shirts alone, souls sold n all that. I don't want a Park or Kagawa thx. 1 good game v Norwich at OT for 17 million yet everyone goes on about how bad our signings have been. Shirt seller all day. They'll say he did well in Germany and in the same breadth say the German league is inferior to the PL, small contradiction, and Dortmund replaced him with better for same price to boot. I want us to pay for talent, not because of how many japs like football, different fan type, we lose those supporters when the player goes unlike here and in Europe.
If we are bringing someone like Honda in then I would sell Shelvey at that price, if there arent any significant buys in that position though I would just loan Shelvey to a prem team
Kagawa is proper quality, just had a slow start really. Obviously players shouldn't be signed for anything but football, but it's a bonus to have one in your squad.
Why do Stoke want Shelvey? Shouldn't they be buying players from The London Irish, St. Helens, etc. Shelvey tends to kick the ball not the opposition... or do they think he's young enough to convert to thuggery... doesn't seem the right type to me.
