Maybe if we create some sort of template that can just be copied and pasted from game to game and then filled in as appropriate?
I donlt want to pee on anyone's binfire but we're already attracting a fair amount of flack from supporters of other clubs as it is, allbeit thankfully usually confined to their own boards (check out the leicester forum to see what I mean....). If you advertise to a wider audience you have to be prepared to have an influx of smart arses banging on about how we are cheats and have sole responsibility for the decline of the English national team. That said, I don't do the match preview and at the end of the day a decision on whether this should happen or not should really be down to those doing the work.
I think it would be a good idea. But that being said, how many of us actually have time to write a thread to a word count and to specific criteria. I know I don't. It would be great to have more members though.
I don't know if this will help, but a few years back one of your posters who did matchday threads using HTML gave a lot of help to one of our posters to start doing Americanised matchday threads. I'm pretty sure that to start he just copied and pasted a template that AK did for him, as at the time he had no idea how HTML worked! He stopped doing ours around Christmas time, he is married now and has other priorities but I'm sure if you asked him, bearing in mind the help he got from the Watford board, he would help you set up a template! On BBC606 he was Political Canary, but on here he is CanariesSoccer, tell him I said he would help, I promise he won't mind, he'd probably be pleased to be able to return the favour!

Any post that is added to the thread once it has gone to the web does indeed get included. There are only a few of us that are allowed to promote by the website as there are a lot of issues that have to be considered. However it was just a suggestion it is not compulsory I was just offering help. BT
No mate that is not how it works......We are not trying to make reporters out of you......Just do the thread for your own board for your own fans. All we do is edit out spelling mistakes and generally tidy things up. We will not promote anything that is likely to be libelous or lead to the person or site being prosecuted for any reason. All you need is you everyday threads , no particular criteria but they need to be around the 200 words mark as a starter. Match day threads are as good as any. You will need to let me use my judgement as to when to promote them to get the maximum coverage world wide. If you look at the Article list by the side of team listing, on the main page you will get an idea of how it works. Down to you folks. BT
For the highlighted reasons I am sceptical about this, I've just been putting cut and paste jobs up recently. Sorry H. I only put them up for us lot. If it could attract more people it could be a good idea but I don't have the time or desire to do them. If someone else does then no problem from my point of view.
Thanks H As long as you are prepared for some idiots ,wums etc then it could attract new members to the board. what you have to consider is more new blood v possibel extra hassle . Given it a little thought and I dont think its a bad idea , Totally up to the MT authors I would suggest.
I am not opposed to this as it is up to the person making the thread what they do and I have not done a match day thread so my opinion is not worth much However not606 is better than 606 in that we have real chats about the club we love and not a load of silly wumming. I am just sceptical that real hornets are unable to find us here but would find us via News Now.
Just a suggestion, if you're worried about word counts, using a few extra quotes makes it a lot easier to reach
I am going to keep doing them as before until the end of the season. Also, thanks to those who have helped do a few along the way too. I won't do match threads after this season. I am not against the idea. However, for now if it is not broken don't fix it and the extra effort combined with my normal work doesn't appeal to me. If anyone wants to do them differently and maybe we could test one out to see how it works. Well, then feel free to take a match to do one as this BT character suggests.
From BT to me below, seriously can't be arsed with this though even if it has good intentions...not sure of the motivation behind it and don't want to put more time in. Sorry but from me this idea is OFF. Hi Mate BT character here......Mate it does give the Watford fans more publicity. Basically all that is needed is much the same as you are doing. Perhaps adding in who the referee's and linesman are. Match history of both clubs and or stats. Your last effort was ok but it was only about 115 characters. So you were not so far away. I do not know for certain but if you look at our match thread (Saints) you will see that we had 15000 odd viewings with 500 odd replies. I am told by admin at least 20% of the viewings are via the Newsnow web site. But hey not trying to persuade you......just a suggestion. don't worry Mex, it was just an idea to get more people in and to make the board a bit busier...more people, more exchange of views etc. We have our twitter feed but it's not getting many people in so this is another way of dealing with it, and BT was just offering a bit of help, as he's an article editor. No biggie. If it's extra work, then as i said, i don't want to put you to extra trouble. If you like, you can do your usual thing and i can tweak it to add the extra bits once and see if it makes a difference. No extra effort on your part, just on mine. Let me know. There's no hidden agenda here, it's just boost the board a bit. Anyway, if you'd like me to have a go, let me know. If not, don't worry. I'm easy (no comments please! lol )
