http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/21644726 There'll be no decision for a few years yet but there is a real possibility that the 2022 WC will be held in the winter. First question this raises is do they bring it forward 6 months or delay it for 6 months ? How long would the league break last ? 4 weeks for the tournament plus another 2 weeks before and 1 week after equals 7 weeks so that probably means the whole of Jan and Feb consumed. I ****ing hate FIFA with a vengeance. Lining their own pockets with gifts from the Qataris in return for votes. Stinks. Bent bastards. What an immense balls up this is gonna be if it goes ahead.
I can't help but think this would be just what the English players need for a tournament, instead of having a tournament right at the end of their season when alot of them have played a game or two every week for 9 months it will be in the middle of the season instead.
I see no difference really, tiredness and fatigue is a poor excuse really, its never the real reason we win nothing, where just not good enough. All the other teams players play week in, week out and yet they still do better than us come the end of the season.
This defeats the entire object of the World Cup for me, which is piling into a stupidly packed pub about 3 hours before kick off, drinking multiple pitchers of **** lager, and generally getting wrecked while the sun's out. You get about 4 goes of it before England get knocked out. In winter, I struggle to find the verve to go to the end of the street. No Sepp, no.
Like you said there is along way to go .... There are many problems that will have to sorted One is actually getting into the ground, I recently went to the Spain v Uruguay friendly (All Ticket) Started queuing at least half an hour before kickoff and missed the first ten minutes and there where still people outside the ground with half an hour gone. We needed our passports with us to get in as you do for many things over here. The other one is alcohol or the lack of it, this might have already been agreed and dealt with. We get temps in the mid 50s here in the summer, 40s from April to September. Unless the stadiums are air conditioned (and they say that this is how it is going to be) the winter is the only time to stage it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Khalifa_International_Stadium
Putting it in Qatar is like the tubby lards holding magic weekends, it doesn't work. The best football world cups are always in Europe or Latin countries like Mexico or Argentina. Brazil will obviously be fantastic because they are a massive football nation. USA and South Africa were **** and Qatar will be the ****y end of the **** stick scale.
I actually thought South Africa was good, but agree with your point apart from that. Putting it in Qatar is just ridiculous.
I said yesterday that I couldn't see myself being a football fan in five years, and things like this are exactly why. As Ian Holloway asked, what happened to the indoor and underground stadia that they insisted they were building? I have very little time for international football, and so my view on this decision from my position as an England fan is one of indifference. As a club football fan, however, I am appalled. The Christmas fixtures, along with the opening and closing few games, are the highlight of the season for me. They're clearly not going to happen (unless, god forbid, we're in League One or Two by then, in which case they may be a feature of our fixture list). What will the situation with the already farcical transfer window be? This, the introduction of goal-line technology, and the disgusting treatment of supporters are all pushing me further away from the game.
yeah put it in the middle east, then see how many supporters get kidnapped and held for ransom, how about extending an open invitation to the Taliban to present the cup to the winners?
If we are going to be racist, why didn't you tell us? Here's my contribution please log in to view this image
Patty you are more likely to be run over by a 4*4 here than any of that stuff you have mentioned, the Qatari's that I have met and worked with are a great bunch of people and don't have a problem with the west but put them behind the wheel of a Land cruiser and then you have a problem
Anyway, back to topic on hand - The Qatari's aren't terrorists, they are all rich bastards... Also, I have been there, and it is incredibly hot.
