    Hellfire.

Austin from a Kacaniklic pass - there was an inevitability about that scenario, but not about the result.

    COYR - get stuck in!

In front of 20,000 people as well - crowds holding up well, but for how much longer?

Just back. Will post properly later but just a few immediate thoughts:

    1. Utter cack. Two very poor teams. I have absolutely no idea what our formation was supposed to be. Neither had the players.

    2. Beaten by a "worldly" but to be honest we huffed and puffed without looking like scoring.

    3. Pitch a disgrace.

    4. John Obika must be an anagram of Leon Clarke. Absolutely useless. Where on earth do we dig these players up from?

    5. I know the absentee ST holders and freebies get counted regardless. But no way Jose were there more than 15000 in the ground today. Farcical

    6. Good showings from Button (who didn't have much to do), Dervite, Wiggins (gong forward - a little more dodgy at the back) and Green who was excellent when he came on. Everyone else was poor, especially Haynes who had an absolute mare and Pritchard who as usual tried hard but was utterly ineffective.

    7. Baffling decision to take Dervite off.

All very depressing. I cling to the view that there are just too many teams below us who all need to get a load of points to get past us. But I cannot see where our next win is coming from and we will be perilously close to the relegation mark in another couple of weeks. I also sense the stuffing being gradually knocked out of the support. No real recalcitrant behaviour yet but it is beginning to brew. This team certainly can't take to the field next season or we will be dead Certs for relegation. The season ticket decision is sadly getting easier by the week.

4-3-3 might have worked but all our front 3 were poor. I want Haynes as a striker, not quite sure what his job was today. Strange that BWP couldn't get a start and gets shipped out on loan and we get Obika in on loan, he goes straight into the team and looks pretty ineffective really. The last 20 minutes were ghastly, long punts forward from everywhere, into a packed penalty area time after time after time. Burnley provided the one quality moment in the match and so deserved to win.

The baffling thing is BWP starts a couple of games this season gets dropped bombed out sent out on loan can't do it at this level and we bring in a vastly inferior player.
Waggy always the scape goat for everything.
I was very peed off today Haynes ain't wanted so will be off anyway.
    Harriott our best player today.
We are way better with 1 up front.

Button looked decent what little he had to do though fumbled one in the first half that if it had been Hamer would of been crucified.
At least the Hamer haters were happy today.
Burnley were awful too today this division is full of crap teams non would stay up in the prem in my opinion without spending fortunes

Sums it up, our only hope appears to be that although we are very poor, the teams below are (hopefully) very very poor. I am at a loss as to whether its the pitch, the players or the tactics but it is clear we are not playing as a team. Sort of glad I'm missing the Huddersfield match next week for the first time in several seasons. It could be painful to watch & a major turning point in the season.

    1) We were very slightly better than last week
    2) Playing at home with Dervite as a holding midfielder doesn't work, we are far too exposed on the wing
    3) Haynes can not play on the left wing
    4) Solly must be injured
    5) Wiggins may not find the Championship as easy as L1
    6) The Good Doctor has decided to make subs that could change the game
    7) If we bring Harriott on then we need to play the ball to him and not keep playing it long.
    8) With the spread of fans in East Stand there must of been a lot of freebies given out

useless today. i think, for financial reasons only, that i'm gonna start betting on us to lose at home each week.

today i went to the game optimistic. left thinking that i should get my boots out the loft and offer to do a job in midfield. we currently have no midfield, changing the defense and attack is not where our problems are. everyone can see this.

cant wait for this season to end and see what business we do. green and button were the only players to come out of the game with any credit.

A nice glass of wine and I'm reflecting on the day. Just had a glance on CL and even there the mood seems to be turning. Which begs the question - how long has CP got before he either says "sod this for a game of soldiers" or gets the tin tack? There were more rumblings around me today than normal and on a personal note I cannot justify a ST investment to watch that crap again next year. When do the board panic/take a decision that something needs to change? Will there be investment and, if so, will CP be trusted to spend it? Be clear, this isn't a "Powell out" post. I'm just asking for views on when people think enough will be enough for CP himself or for the board. I don't know what ST renewals are looking like and can only speak personally. I reckon if we lose the next 3 games the board may panic. If we get relegated CP will walk before he is pushed.

I can't see Powell walking away. I think he loves the club too much for that.

As for him getting the sack, I hope the board realise just what a unifying power he has been since he came in as boss. If we go down (which I don't think will happen) Powell is the right man to get us back up.

I understand your reluctance to shell out an awful lot of money on a new ST. However, there was no way that this season was going to be as good as last year, and so we have to expect more home defeats. Granted, I thought we would have had more than 4 by this stage, but neither did I expect us to get anything at Leicester, Blackpool, Blackburn etc. Last season was a dream, and this season is just about as close as Charlton will ever get to a 'normal' season i.e. midtable in the second tier.

I'm glad we're playing crap against the likes of Nottingham Forest and Burnley, rather than playing crap against the like of Walsall and Dagenham & Redbridge.

Why are you even talking about Powell leaving? THis season has been fine, just been very poor at home. I think the form will pick up soon enough.

Let's hope so 'cos this is relegation form. We seem to be beat before we come on to the pitch..which is to be fair ****e. At least CP opened with a very attacking formation and Fuller won his fair share in the air but as usual, we lost out on the second ball. Haynes should be playing central, not out wide. Harriott rarely saw the ball but Danny Green looked well up for it, never stopped runnng, took all the free kicks and corners, even the bloody throw ins! We were so desperate we even threw Leon Court up front but as Burnley packed 11 players into the box for the last half hour there was no room and they certainly were not going to be drawn out. Perhaps CP is right and we should play all our games away from home. But, we have just lost two at ghome and now we have two away, lose those and there will real panic..and when do we ever beat Millwall?

Truly dreadful today CP says we're were unlucky I disagree we deserved nothing .
Poor from minute 1 plus all these changes every week don't help.
Ok we had some enforced but he does it over n over I love CP but today was unacceptable against poor opposition.

I'm still happy with CP at the helm, and my earlier comments that he's on a learning curve still hold true, but it's a very very shallow curve. Plus, revelations of how much we spent last season suggest that anything less than a championship would have been por indeed. If you spend a lot more than the rivals, you have to expect a big return, but we can't afford to live beyond our means.
All this brings me round to the latest episode in our hunt for seven or eight points to see ourselves to safety. The dribbling leak of points at the Valley is getting painfull, and while the pitch may well be rubbish, both teams have to play on it and at least we know what's coming as it's our pitch. Maybe we need to dig in and try to grub out a series of 0-0 draws as the reports coming on here suggest we could'nt buy a win much less earn one. A defensive line up and a lone striker may be better than humiliation against Burnley and Huddersfield.
I've actually seen us this season (Huddersfield in the cup!) and while it was painfull to watch, it was great to be back at the Valley after years away. However, unlike last year, I am not envious of those who go every week, and on my restricted budget, I'd certainly think twice before buying a season ticket next year if I still lived in Erith. Firstly, we need to save this season by getting a couple of decent results from somewhere, but after that, the directors need to look at making next season a lot more comfy. With our club, I reckon we should be looking at challenging for the play offs, which on current form is a laughable target. I hope we're scouting now for next season, but until we know where we'll be plying our trade, it's difficult to plan anything.
