Would not be against this at all but a typical comment from a **** mag paper.

"Sunderland’s European ambitions are an ambitious boast when the club is embroiled in a relegation fight."

Whilst those that they hold dearest to their hearts are one point better off.

yep, sell the name if a good offer comes along.

was never that keen on the name for starters, always thought it was a bit of a 'weak' choice.

Is it true that quite a lot of the fans disliked the name? I am sure I remember there being a bit of anger towards the name.

I have never liked the name...I still refer to it as\ the Wearmouth Stadium sometimes, simply because that is what it should have been called from the start...

There was a bit of hassle when it was named (no Boycouutts mind) but, as a whole I think it's 50/50 like/dislike. Personally couldn't care less what it's called it'll always be going to the match.
Be interesting if Ashley bought the rights mind <whistle>

I truly don't give a rats arse what the stadium is called as it isn't Roker Park and I don't have that sentimental link to the SOL.

If we sold the naming rights for a hefty lump of cash and bought 2 full backs, you can call it what you like for me.

Fair enough. I have a friend who is a Sunderland fan and his dad (a season ticket holder) was furious. I remember having tea round his and he was fuming over the name <laugh>.

True, however at 14th and 15th it matters not. That said, you know how I feel about this "top dog" business.

It's just bragging rights for a season mate good to wind people up with and that's about it, nice to see you on here as it seems the rest of your lot have mislaid their keyboards.

If I went into hiding every time we lost, I'd might as well sell my laptop! Yer, I get that it is bragging rights and all that. I guess I miss out on it all not living in the area (though I know a few mackems.)

I'm not that bothered either QWOP (so long as we are above your lot LOL)

As Mr Big said so well in Live and Let Die - "names are for tombstones baby"

Roker Park will always be my spiritual home and although I love the SOL, what it is called is nowhere near as important as Roker was to me. I'd have chained myself to the gates if they had tried to rename the 'old girl' back in the day but not so the SOL.
