I'm very interested how would you play it since we need a win more than anything. I'd stick with 4-2-3-1 with both Townsend and Hoilett playing
Well, you say you'd STICK with 4-2-3-1, but that certainly isn't what we played against Man Utd. Although I agree that we should play that formation, like this: ---------------------Cesar----------------------- Fabio-----------Samba-----Hill-------------Traore -------------Mbia-----------Jenas--------------- Townsend----------Taarabt---------------Hoilett -------------------Remy------------------------ I wouldn't mind Granero playing instead of Jenas. Hopefully either one of them will help us to keep the ball a bit.
I've just seen the thread tittle ooops Fixed. Duty mod at your service... have a good day sir (and an even better tomorrow)!
TBH I like Derry and wouldn't mind seeing him in there instead of Mbia, as the latter has been hugely disappointing.
Is be happy with that but also Onuoha in for Traore or someone else in for Jenas. The front four are a must, no SWP or Mackie unless we are defending a lead.
I think it's time to go for goals balls to it **** or bust time, I would go with ------------------Cesar Fabio-------Samba-----Hill----Traore Townsend---Jenas----M'Bia-----Adel ----------Betty/Mackie--Remy--- and when we attack pack the box so it's more than just 1/2 players in there at any given time,
What the **** is going on? In your post above, Onuoha came out as "Onions", Traore came out as "traits" and Jenas came out as "means"!! Then, when I clicked on "reply with quote", the names were correct!! WTF?
got to say that I have given up with Mackie in the team this season, just not good enough for this league
Getting players in the box will be key, not leaving Remy isolated, else we will end up just sitting back again and only hitting on the break.
Go with pretty much Cols side and formation.....as was discussed earlier in the week quick counter attacking, precise one touch passing to take 3 or 4 of them out the game.....must play at pace...
Posted this elsewhere and I know we haven't practiced it 'live', but we need to get bodies in the box and press higher up the pitch. ....................Cesar................ Onouha.........Samba.........Hill Fabio...........Diakite..........Traore ...................Taarabt................ Townsend.......Remy.......Hoillet Not a chance of this formation starting, I predict another 'let's not concede and sneak something' attempt. Derry does not have the pace to play on his own in front of the defence, Mbia, hard not to love him but he's all over the place. Diakite of course a big risk, but I've seen more to be excited about in him than the others. Looking at it again, with the exceptions of Samba, Hill and Tarbs, thats a seriously quick team.
But Diakite would be our only CM. We'd get slaughter IMO. It's possilbe to get some bodies in the box even with 4-2-3-1. It's all down to players instructions and mentality
We played Derry and Mbia against Swansea in a 5 man midfield with 4 at the back, and got slaughtered then. Speculate to accumulate. Anyway, the mentality is more important than the formation, which should be fluid whatever it looks like on paper. Will we press high and get forward?
Good point there but imagine us defending. Our back 3 would become 5 and a loose cannon Diakite would sit in front of them. So Townsend and Hoillet (I doubt he will) will cover their respective full backs but who will deal with Soton's midfield?
