....it's right that Mick should be given one million pounds for staying up?
Should Marcus really be paying Mick a million quid for basically doing what he is paid well to do, and that is to do the best he can for the club that employs him. Whether that be chasing promotion or staving off relegation is a bonus like this really neccessary?

£1m seems pretty excessive, is that definitely in his contract? if it is and he gets it then for me there's big pressure on mick to get us up in and around the top 6 next season.
and would he have taken the job if that £1m bonus wasn't in his contract. probably not considering the state we were in

Perhaps split the million between all the season ticket holders as an apology for all the effing sh1te that has been served up....yet again! And no doubt next season aswell...

Would that money not be better spent on players to help the situation?
Plus, he should have thought of that last summer. Instead of investing properly in the squad, he lead us to the position that we needed to dangle a gigantic carrot in front of Mick in order for him to join us after PJ's failure, which was not helped by the lack of investment.

I don't see what's wrong with it. Yes its a lot, but as a percentage of his wage as a bonus I don't think its high when you compare it to other industries that give bonuses (banks ect). Also don't forget where we were when Mick took over.

If that is the cost of getting a manager like Mick then I say it's worth every penny <ok>

    ^This

We knew all about this when Mick was appointed and it was never made a fuss of because we needed a miracle just to get us off the bottom of the table. That's been achieved but the million quid is still not safe. If Mick keeps us in the Championship then he has had an incredible season.

Hmmm not so sure about this. I think Diego has a point. We are not a Bank or Futures and Traders thank goodness, the tossers, so I think a £1m to do his job, is a call too far...if he does his job and manages to keep us up and challenging next year I will be delighted. But thyats what managers in sport teams are paid to do. Why do we have to incentivise them all the time. A bonus and perks culture will be the ruin of football, where we already suffer from the over-endulgences and overpaid players.

I can well understand why the game is at such high stock in Germany.

If I got paid a £1m for every good job I have done...well, I would be taking over IPTFC and with you lot as sensibly paid staff, Football directors, coaches, mentors, scouts in all exotic places...and really investing in Youth...we would be climbing the table in no time!! <whistle>

southcoast, given that we were dead and buried I'm sure League One football would have set us back a lot more than £1m.

As for your concerns about fairness, Simon Clegg was paid healthily to alienate the fans, bungle contract negotiations and painting the turnstiles. If we equate his £150,000 a year with the contribution Mick would be making by keeping us up its hard not to agree that he's good value.

The bonus was rumoured at the time of his appointment and it was denied by everyone. Considering we are trying to keep our wage bill below 7m then I think it is highly unlikely we could offer this amount even if we wanted.
Hypothetically would it be worth it? yes and no -
Yes because relegation would lead to us loosing a lot more
No because it would be better spent adding to the playing squad
