Could be ploy where he puts himself in the shop window while his agent takes the stick, both knowing they will be quids in.....must admit I don't believe this is the case like!

Agents are a devious species, but are playing the game in a sport which has lost touch with reality.

<whistle>I'm quite liking the fact that Pep Guardiola' brother is the agent of Suarez. Wonder where he will be moving to soon.

He's just tying to get Mig the best contract possible. whether it be here or elsewhere. The agent gets his fee either way, more lucrative the contract, more money for the agent.

Brilid, accept your point re agent fees but surely if he unsettles the mig and he goes for the 10-25 million I've seen our fans claim he's worth, surely that we're he makes his big bucks(the agent that was)

Not at all mate. The transfer fee is completely irrelevant to the agent. the fee is between the two clubs and nothing to do with the player or the agent. it's the content of the personal terms that make the money for the agent. they charge a percentage of the value of the contract. therefore, unless Man City, Chelsea, psg or one of the Russian clubs come in for him, the agent isn't going to get a massive pay day. The likes of Man u and Arsenal who have been linked have wage structures, they'll pay him his worth like we will when we offer him a new contract.

I wouldn't worry about the agent, he's doing his job and well by the looks of it. Mig is on low wages. combine form and the interest from other clubs then he's due a new contract.

My only worry is an offer to good for sunderland to turn down comes in.

Thanks for that Brilid, you seem sure of your facts, I personally thought they took a fee as a percentage of transfer fee, what you seems logical if I sit back and think about it.
Regards migs reportedly (in football terms) low wage think we should have moved a little quicker to pay him his worth as oppose to outside interests driving a potential new deal.
Gotta say when we first got him thought he was a bit weak, but he's developed tremendously but what would I know, remember Phillips debut against Ajax, thought neat little player, to lightweight though wont make it, haha, the rest was history to us lot

Agent trying to generate more cash for his client.

    http://www1.skysports.com/football/...-hopes-Simon-Mignolet-will-agree-new-contract

I see nothing wrong with this. If I was an agent I would do the same. The club and his agent are in talks over a longer contract, therefore he is only trying to get more money for Simon and himself. It's not their fault that the line of business they are in you have to go public to get more than whats on offer. It's just business.

Redandwhitefox, I agree, but just not so happy with the agent saying he had to leave us to regain his number one status in Belgium side. Sure he is busier here rather than at a mega successful club lol

it'll be the same old rubbish - press blowing it up as much as they can, agents constantly trying to find a better deal for their players and in turn themselves.

we've seen it a lot lately up the road, I only believe any of it when there's an official club release.

frustrating being on tenterhooks, but that's what it's like when you have a really desirable player, just wait until random 'advisors' start talking to over-eager journalists !
