Until today i have never believed the Geordie - mackem relationship was anything more than a hateful and slightly Banterized one. However comments on here have made me believe it is a love hate relationship. small amount of love, Tons and tons of hate or displeasure if you prefer.

but to be fair to the sunderland fans they certainly know what its like to get relegated better than us lot.

Personally i had never experienced NEWCASTLE being relegated before last.

there is still plenty chickens to count<peacedove>

You are not a geordie if you are from Peterlee no matter how much you pretend you are. In fact you are much closer to being a mackem or a monkey hanger. What you are is a plakka mag and that's that.

No such think as a "plakka mag"
Being from peterlee might not make him a Geordie but you can't tell any Newcastle supporter they are a plastic mag. You don't have to be a Geordie to be a mag.

How sad it must be to support Newcastle United and have such a inferior complex that one must spend their waking hours worrying that the Team of all Talents just a short bus ride away always manage to steal your thunder I personally would like to see a ruling made that when SUNDERLAND have to play newcastle they should be made to take the field with ten men preferably no goalkeeper so that we would see a level playing field and make it a game that either team could win What are your thoughts on this do you think it would be a feasible proposition

Congratulations to Newcastle United on staying in the top division for a few years, Question can you name me a team that played in nothing but the top division for " Wait for it" SIXTY EIGHT YEARS and for some of the commentators here that is 68 years and I am not going to give you any clues except to say that for 600 years they were the biggest shipbuilding town in the WORLD

I think both them and us will stay up fairly comfortably. While I'm optimistic for us at the moment I'm not sure we're going to go on a massive unbeaten run like the end of last season, it'll be a steady finish for us I think. Sunderland too will be fine, they are capable of nicking points from the big teams and I think they will do. The big plus for Sunderland is they rarely concede hatfuls of goals in a game, they're usually competitive, so I think they'll grind out enough points.

Next season could be decent for both sides if they spend the summer wisely, both squads need additions, but the basic foundations for success are there. I will say I think we're closer to that success than they are, but we've got to want it. I'd fancy us going at the cups next year, not play weakened teams and actually try and get some momentum going. Sunderland need some flair players to go with Sess (assuming he doesn't leave), as their gameplan would work if they had some skill and pace to catch teams on the break etc.

Life is too short to give a crap about whether someone from Peterlee does not support the geographically closest team

I'm not a Geordie or even a north easterner... or even a northerner... I'm not even British but I love my club, that's what makes me a Mag.

I think you've been spending too much time with the 5 fingered widow, I'm assuming it's made you go blind as well as affecting your cognitive reasoning.
