If like me you have backed a horse that isnt running at Cheltenham on the free bet scheme then I wish to point out that the free bet will only appear as promo cash to be used on the day the race was due to be run. Pretty sneaky really as I bet a lot forget to use it or cant get online to do so!
Found this out quite a while ago. You have to use it within 24 hours of the race in question taking place. Very, very sneaky and will catch loads out.
To be fair to the bookmakers that do these offers, it is all in the terms and conditions of the offers. It's up to the user to check and make sure they know what they are getting. I wouldn't dream of taking up a bookmaker 'special offer' without checking the terms.
I agree Hawkeye. I have only really posted this to help everyone out just in case, not to knock the bookie concerned.
Why are we being fair to the bookie? They use these offers to attract extra business and it will be built into their risk assessment that a significant proportion of people will not realise the free bet has a 24hr condition attached. That's a calculated attempt to take advantage of customers. Not everyone is switched on enough to check.
I can't believe I'm defending bookies, but the fact is, all the terms and conditions on the VC offer are there. I read them shortly after the offer became available. You had to click on a link but they weren't hidden amongst small print. With any company, not just bookies, when your interested in a offer you have to read the conditions. If you don't you will find out the hard way that all is not as it seems. That's just life. There is no alternative agenda here IMO.
