imo, no, I believe there are three worse teams than them for sure and I think that although their fixture list looks a little tough they will still nick unexpected points - in fact there are only two games there where I would bet a large sum on no points: Manu and Spurs.

Plus, I don't think it will be 40 points. 40 points is the magic number, but a look a premier leagues gone by will show most survivors have 38 / 39 and every point counts. The difference between 9 and 11 points required is big, not to mention the good goal difference they have when compared to other relegation candidates

I think they will be safe I'm still not fully convinced we have turned the corner but over the next few games I will have a better idea the quicker we reach the 40 point mark the better. I reckon the current bottom 3 are the teams that will go down with Wigan turning it around like they always do.

Nah, all they really need is for either Fletcher to take the majority of his chances or for Sessegnon to have a good game in a handful of their last matches to stay up - that's pretty realistic given some of their performances this season.

I agree with the comments that momentum is key and also agree that (despite only being slightly better off than Sunderland in the table) our club feels far more positive than theirs just now.

The main difference for us now, as opposed to earlier in the season is that we now have numerous attacking threats. Since Ba left (and to an extent, even before then) we only had 1 realistic goal scorer and as such, one style of play - get the ball to Ba. Now with Cisse, Sissoko and Gouffran all creating and being afforded space with their forward running, we have more options to work with and as such are creating more chances.

Pardew himself said that with Ben Arfa back we will be a real threat to anyone. The goals could come from any of our front 5 (including Cabaye) and defenses will hopefully not know who to mark/double up on. For the first time this season, I'm genuinely excited about the next game!

Good post, well reasoned. From the outside looking in it would be hard to argue with.

With players of the incompetence of Johnson and Graham I'm afraid it;s a real possibility.

No they not actually. Graham is a DGB. HOWEVER, Johnson is worse he is from Easington and he is pretending to be a geordie. A plakka mag is they are known, a species that mulitiplied in vast numbers post 1992.
