Only the most foolhardy optimist will think that Mr. Laudrup will stay at Swansea in the long term.
He is in year one of a two year contract, and unless we hit the buffers in a big way,I expect him to at least honour that agreement.
The success that Swansea City has enjoyed under his tutelage has clearly raised his managerial status, and as such, opened a few eyes that didn't take him too seriously as a top manager.
Now it is heavily rumoured that some top teams in Europe are looking at him,and there should be no surprise there.
Will he leave Swansea City? Yes.
When will he leave? This is where speculation takes over. The answer is,we don't know. He doesn't know either, but no doubt he has started thinking about it.
Hopefully,he will leave us in a good position, and he will go with our love and best wishes.
Just think for a moment,Swansea City are permanently linked with one of the greatest players the game has ever known.
Our profile, already raised by Messrs. Martinez,Sousa and Rodgers,is now as high as we could have ever dreamed.

So,let's just enjoy the moment, and look forward to the European adventure that lies ahead, and not spend too much time worrying about when The Great Dane, Mr.Michael Laudrup, will move on to the next stage of his illustrious career.

On Sky this morning it was mentioned that he intends to honour his contract. But the bottom line is that if Real Madrid come calling you go. We should give credit to our Board for understanding this and not standing in the way of managers.

On the flip side Laudrup was not upset when he heard we are already looking at future managers to replace him, which I feel is excellent management by the Club

We all know that at some stage he will be leaving - at least he isn't giving us any bullshi*.

I've been thinking about this over the weekend. Sadly, Vetch, I've become far more cynical about managers over the past few years and I'm now steeling myself for another change of manager this summer. If Real Madrid have him on their radar then I suspect we will have little chance of keeping him.

Roberto left to join Wigan, which was a move upwards at the time, but has ultimately become a step backwards.

Brendan left to join Liverpool which was a move upwards despite whether we finish above them or not (arguably I suppose).

If Michael Laudrup gets a call from Real Madrid that would be a step upwards of MAJOR proportions which I doubt he would turn down whatever the managerial arrangements are.

If I were Huw I would be looking around already.

I caught parts of a Radio Wales show in my car last night and Curt was asked his opinion about the Michael Laudrup situation. He emphasised that he could voice only his own thoughts, that naturally, he wasn't speaking on behalf of his boss. It was encouraging.

Firstly, he felt that ML would honour his existing contract and, that whilst the club was aware of the surge of interest in ML, there was no talk whatsoever about him leaving any time soon. Curt said he doubted that ML would leave at this most important time in our development as a club, with particular emphasis on European football next season. He said that he could not see ML bringing in some high profile (for us) players and then walking out on them adding that Laudrup was just not that sort of a person.

There was more general talk about this and the feeling I got was that ML will at least be staying one more season. Of course, prospects of a longer deal might well hinge on how well we perform next season both domestically and in Europe. If we struggle he might feel that he has taken us as far as he can. However, should we achieve further success, whatever that may be, he could be inclined to stay and see just how far we can go.

Final thought, I also heard on another show that he would be ill advised to take the job at Madrid because they have a track record of sacking managers despite having done very well eg winning La Liga and even the Champions League. It was said that that type of situation would not suit Michael Laudrup one iota. Let's hope they have it right.

Guillem Balague (who always seems to have his finger on the pulse regarding La Liga / Premiership transfers and rumours) was saying the same thing on Sky last night. He also stated that there are many factors including the current economy in Spain along with Reals attitude to sacking managers (as ivor has mentioned), that would make it unattractive for ML at the moment. The control over signings and the team in general and our playing style suits his philosophy and that wont change in the next 4 months. I think it will all hinge on whether he thinks he can improve or at least put his stamp on their playing style and if so then next season maybe but hopefully by then we will be an even more attractive club for managers to come to.

there is no down side in winning anything.....why should it....Its what all clubs strive for and we won. Laudrup we know is never in a million years going to stay as our manager if a really big club comes in for him and rightly so...real madrid or Swansea city....mmmmmm no competition is there, Its every managers dream to manage the best of the best and mike will be no different....so what i say? we move on and employ another manager. laudrup has achieved his goal and kept us up and won a major cup in his first season...job done.....Im not expecting him to even see out his contract if real madrid make him an offer at the end of the season just like players like ash, chico and micho who are reported to be off to pastures new next season.....Its what football is all about like it or not.....no big deal we have lost managers and players before and we will lose managers and players again........there is nothing we can do about it we just move on to another chapter....

Caught coverage of the parade on the Welsh news and Michael Laudrup was asked if he was staying. Can't remember his exact words but basically it was a categorical "yes"!!!! YES, YES, YES!!!!

His "intention" is to stay..............................

Let's hope that the challenge of building something very special at a relatively small club is something that is irresistible...................

It's all words, words, words.

You could interpret it as his intention is to stay....unless something else comes along.

He said yet again today, that he intends to see his current contract out ,I for one take people at face value and I believe the face you see with Mr Laudrup is the only one he has . now that maybe naive of me but at this moment in time it's what I believe until proved wrong. It's not in our hands so it's not worth worrying about, the memories of this season can never be erased and at the end of the day thats all we'll have but what memories.

Swansea City manager Michael Laudrup has revealed he is unsure what will happen at the end of the season and would be tempted if Real Madrid came calling.

Laudrup, who last weekend guided Swansea to their first trophy in the club’s 100 year history told The Mirror: "It’s certain that I will return to Spain, but I don’t know when. It is a pleasure that the fans think that I could be the next Real Madrid manager, we will see what happens in June or July.”

However, the Danish manager, who played for both Real Madrid and Barcelona insists he is enjoying his managerial stint in the Premier League.

"Spain is like my second home, but I am enjoying my experience in the Premier League.

"In Spain, all of the teams want to play good football but here there are a lot of different styles, it is harder to prepare for games."

If Laudrup was to leave the club, then this would come as a big blow to the Welsh club as they look to build on their success after losing Brendan Rodgers to Liverpool at the end of last season.

A bit like fans saying Martinez and Brendan would not leave because of clever wording by the manager <laugh> swans or real madrid .....I wonder who???

I get what you say, Aswan, and in any other manager I would take the words with a pinch of salt. But I believe that Michael Laudrup is different. His understated demeanour screams sincerity and, for me, he appears to have integrity oozing out of his pores.

This is a different class of man. He means what he says and, providing we don't mess him about, which I doubt, I'm sure he will stand by what he has said.

I hope you're right Ivor. There's no point in speculating - we'll just have to wait and hope.
