I'm thinking that Wigan will win this one by the odd goal in three, and this will be the game where McCarthy's summer move to Anfleid for around £9m will be confirmed. Then we'll do the Mersey double, beating Everton in the FA Cup the following week. We'll draw Blackburn in the semi, before a glorious win in the sun in May against the Mancs will be the icing on our relegation-avoiding cake, having sent Villa down to the Championship in the last game of the season. Rodallega I think. Coming from the train station not many en route. There's the Red Robin at the ground which is the traditional away fans pub but it's a Toby or some such. It's bland but it gets a good atmosphere with clubs that bring a lot of support. I like to pop in, incognito like. If you're walking, probably better at the Orwell, at Wigan Pier. Pubs near the train station are just plan nasty. You could detour a little into town - so, left out of Wallgate (if you're coming from Kirby or Southport), right out of Wigan North Western. Then you have the choice of twon centre pubs - but you're heading away from the ground. I think they might also open the function suite under the North Stand for a few hours before kick off too - that's something away fans seem to like. Check the website. Now that I'm awake I might as well be doing something useful.
