Chelsea are in talks to pay £10m for 17-year-old left-back Luke Shaw in the summer and immediately loan him back to Southampton.
So the daily mail has said that we have already rejected a £10 million bid, and yet we will supposedly sell him for £10 million in the summer. Something doesn't add up here.
Its not just the money, it would make NC seem like a lier when he said he wants half the team made up from the acadamy and the youth players are not for sale, thats why I think it is total B.S
The only reason for selling our latest Super Kid is if he is demanding a move or in the cases of Oxo, his Dad is demanding a move. If Luke is comfortable to stay then we should knock any offers back and keep him
We didn't sell oxo until a crazy offer came in and that was in league one. Ten million quid for one of the best young prospects in the country in today's market is nowhere near what Cortese will value him at. Unless they offer mega money for him can't see him going anywhere anytime soon.
As Blackadder almost once said, there is a tiny little flaw in this story - it's bollocks. The inclusion of the phrase "Daily Mail" as if it was a reliable source is the giveaway.
I'd put my house on it being the fact that he said he was a Chelsea fan on twitter recently that is the main "source" behind the story, 2+2=2576...lazy journalism. The only reason Cortese sold Oxo was because the player/dad demanded a move, I don't think even the silly money alone would've been enough for Cortese to do it. So long as long as Luke doesn't get his head turned (and there's no evidence at all that he has) he won't be going anywhere. Remember he could stay here for another 5 years and still be relatively early in his career, plus he's still got loads of mates in the youth set up who may be on their way through to the first team in the next couple of years, which must be a buzz for him.
This isn't going to happen. We lost Oxo because we were not in the PL and he was agitating for a move. The team in general seem very happy here and so does Luke. PL survival is the major issue here and once that is sorted, Luke will sign another contract. The biggest load of tosh is the loan back idea...rarely happens...the only main one I can think of is that young GK (once we didn't sign him, I erased his name from my brain ).
I am sure that the end of each training session, all the players watch "that" DVD. Why would he want to leave a club of the verge of undisputed dominance of Europe.
I would be very surprised by such a thing happening.......The lad needs to look at what happened to another left back we sold to Chelsea........and look where he is now. Ok that may have been a bit over the top but at such a young age there is no need for him to make such decisions.
The only real problem is the distraction to Luke himself, the specualtion can be disturbing, I hope he gets the support of the rest of the squad.
Now I know a certain politician promised we'd never lose our AAA rating, but generally when people say things openly they know they are running the risk of looking foolish later. Luke Shaw has gone on record saying he's going nowhere. Why the hell should he? He's playing regularly in the Premier League, which he wouldn't be doing at Chelsea. The last time I managed to persuade Mrs C to come to SMS was when we played Newcastle. As Luke Shaw came off to a standing ovation she commented how amazing it must be for a kid bought up at the club to get that adulation. Think he doesn't like it? Think he doesn't know he's part of the plan not a saleable asset? I'm not saying he may not go elsewhere, but hopefully he has enough about him to realise that moving now would not be a great career move.
