Swansea V Newcastle United

Saturday 2nd March 2013

Kick off 3pm @ The Liberty Stadium

Squad
Vuckic, Raylor are long term absentees. New is awaited of Colo's injury from Southampton but it looks likely HBA will be back and ready to plat some part for our trip to South Wales.

I Think Swansea will have a bit of a cup hangover and we will be able to take advantage. I'm therefore going to predict a 2-2 draw (although I think that with our current momentum we may sneak a cheeky win).

Previous games v the Swans (all competitions)
2012/2013 Newcastle Utd. 1 - 2 Swansea City
2011/2012 Swansea City 0 - 2 Newcastle Utd.
---------- Newcastle Utd. 0 - 0 Swansea City
2009/2010 Swansea City 1 - 1 Newcastle Utd.
---------- Newcastle Utd. 3 - 0 Swansea City
1994/1995 Newcastle Utd. 3 - 0 Swansea City
1983/1984 Newcastle Utd. 2 - 0 Swansea City
---------- Swansea City 1 - 2 Newcastle Utd.
1980/1981 Swansea City 4 - 0 Newcastle Utd.
---------- Newcastle Utd. 1 - 2 Swansea City

Betting
2-2 get's you 11/1 with PP
Toon 3-1 is 22/1

I'm hoping they are still hung over from yesterday. Laudrup has Swans playing nice football and Routledge is a different player at Liberty <cry>

Good thinking LE. We should send them 200 gallons of champagne to help them celebrate their amazing cup victory. As a gesture of goodwill. Oh and the use by date is Friday night. It should arrive in Swansea by around Friday lunchtime.

once thing for certain is that it will be a different proposition to Swansea from their visit to SJP this season. I think we caught you in the middle of your slump that day and vast improvements have been made since then. The return of Cabaye in particular is a worry for us, I'm a big admirer of the Frenchman, a class act.
Last seasons fixture at the Liberty is memorbale for Cisse's two amazing goals so obviously he'll need to be kept an eye on....like previously mentioned, a cup win hangover will need to be avoided!!
All in all I'm expecting a good spectacle with good football a certainty, would love to snatch a 1-0 victory but good luck and to the travelling Toon Army, hope you enjoy Swansea!

Some teams have suffered hangovers after winning the League Cup - but I don't think we will.

We put a B team out against Liverpool, and I hope I am not being too disrespectful by saying that our players wont be too taxed after yesterdays final.

So the squad is fairly fresh.

Pardew may come and defend and counterattack like he did last year, but we have got a bit more in the locker now, so tactically it will be very interesting.

An exciting game with a 2-1 win for the Swans is my prediction <ok>

NB - I have an address in Swansea for those 200 bottles of champagne <bubbly>

Agree with Kwame B and expecting a much tougher game at the Liberty than we saw at St James Park, with your January additions and the return of a couple of your best players your team are a different prospect to the one that lost to us so easily earlier in the season. Just hope our boys will have stopped celebrating by the weekend and are focused enough to be up for what will be a very difficult fixture.

Newcastle always bring a very decent following down to Wales but you are lucky that you get a perfect view from our away end at the Liberty, many of our fans have stopped making the long trip up north because we are perched at the highest possible vantage point where the players look less than an inch tall yet we are still charged a high price for tickets. It is a great city to visit for a weekend though as is Swansea where we are a generally friendly bunch unlike our neighbours as you will probably find out next season.

I agree that we may still be in cloud 9 after winning the cup but im sure someone like laudrup who has been there done it many times before will get the players in the right frame of mind. Im expecting a close game and a 2-1 victory (michu, routledge) have a safe journey down and i know its a long journey as i have done it a few times myself ....

Interesting game this one, I feel we can get three points if we continue to perform how we have of late.
I would take a point tbf, as they all add up.
Massive well done to Swansea for their cup success a great Achievement
And another reminder how far you have come in the last ten years.

Hard to call this one. Both teams will be up for it, but while we are much improved, Swansea play far better football on their day. Would settle for a draw so I'm predicting a 'Desmond'.

By the way, congrats Swans fans! Well deserved to get a trophy this season. Here's to Europe! <ok>

"UNITED’S clash at Swansea will be officiated by Premier League debutant referee Craig Pawson of South Yorkshire on Saturday."

So, we'll either see loads of cards because he's trying to show how "good" he is, or there'll be none because he's completely overwhelmed by the fact it's a Premier League game.
