Reece Brown the younger brother of Wes Brown has joined Town on loan for the rest of the season from Man Utd. What do you reckon as to the reasoning behind this move? IMO to act as back up for N'Daw and Hyam or to allow Hyam to play further up the pitch by replacing N'Daw.

To be honest I would much prefer us to be bringing in some extra creativity for our midfield but who knows maybe there is still another deal to be done!

I don't think it can be defensive midfield cover, it's probably to take the pressure off the defenders a bit, we don't have cover for them and Smith has international commitments on the other side of the globe too. i dont know who will be dropped or play but makes sense to me.

Kisnorbo is cover for our CB's so this must be for N'Daw!

Sorry but cant understand this. He couldnt get into the Coventry team and he is a player which on the face of it plays in an area where we look strong although short in numbers. In addition as he he is on loan from a british club he can only replace one of our other loanees in the squad as we normally play with the maximum allowance as it is.

Henderson, Stearman, Mclean, McGoldrick and kisnorbo. I would guess Mclean would drop out and JET or Carson would replace him on the Bench if one of our current Central defenders are not available.

Not writing him off and hope MM knows what hes doing but it does seem strange at first glance.

I've said this on other threads but I simply do not understand this decision, for a number of reasons.

If it is to add cover to Smith when he leaves for (up to 2 matches) international duty, we have Kisnorbo and Mings as suitable replacements... as well as the option of sticking Stearman at centre half and dropping Edwards back. So there is no justification for him to be here as cover.

Which goes into my next quandary, why on earth does he want to come here? He will surely be playing 2nd fiddle to our current back four so is ultimately coming to park his arse on our bench.. As a young footballer why would he want to do this? surely he would have asked Utd to find a more suitable club to go out too in order to actually gain something....

Also as a DM I really don't get it either, to say it will allow Hyam to push further forward I don't get as Hyam hasn't shown that he has that in his locker and to take that tac would be a bit strange as he has arguably been one of our best assets playing that role so we would potentially be weakening the side.. Although I'm hoping this kid is a younger version of Andre Pirlo and can dictate play for us but I think that is very wishful thinking and to coin a well used JWM phrase - "It's like re arranging the deckchairs on the titanic"

Very very strange decision IMO, unless it is with a view to a permanent signing at the end of the season, or Mick has heard mutterings that Leeds want Kisnorbo back. A player who couldn't even get in the Coventry team and in a position where we have most cover in and we've got pretty good options at the back aswell. Add to that we're now over our loan limit, just very very strange particularly as we are so light in midfield. If he's brought him in on loan it strikes me as odd that he sent Luongo back.

As I've said before Mick's style have never overly been my cup of tea but he started very well and did what was needed but over the past month he's made a few decisions which make my stomach sink!! I don't think I'm alone when I say I can't wait for this season to be over!!

Everyone wants this season out the way ptc. I can only hope that Mr Brown is the ball playing defensive mid type a la Carrick. Someone who gets stuck in with tackles and can break up play but also has an eye for a pass.

Given that in all the press he's been described as a defender I doubt it!!

Given the fact we cant simply replace N'Daw or Hyam with him due to the loanee rules, and that regardless of where he plays he is forcing another loanee out of the squad then its going to be a rather interesting challenge.

United are not known for having players who just hoof the ball. They like to play out of defence and their players are generally comfortable on the ball under pressure and have the ability to find a team mate with a forward pass. I'm hoping the same goes for Brown <clutchingatstrawsforareasonwhyhe'shere>

Mick is obviously going down the route of making us hard to beat and solid and to go for nicking one on the counter or from a set piece. Its not pretty but in the short term when the results are all that matters then I can understand this strategy. I will not be judging him until the start of next season because so far all he is doing is fire fighting with a team he largely inherited. For those of you who wanted pretty passing football then I'm afraid you will remain disappointed!

    JWM,

Is it not a sad fact that this has been quoted about the last 3 managers.. they have inherited ****e & we need to see what they achieve when they have their feet under the table... which as we all know is absolutley nothing.

I do not know the answers & I am pretty sure that our beloved club do not have a clue either.

Perhsore, I think it's a little bit different this time. We do finally have a tight unit at the back, a platform to build on.

I never gave us a chance of staying up so even if we don't, Mick has given it a great go.

Clegg has gone, that may well be a shot in the arm in the summer.

I kind of agree, but defending only gains you a point, goals get you three.

No arguement from me on that lancs, but it still means we have not moved an inch in four years & have even managed to take a few faltering steps backwards to the precipice of league 1.
