Defender Aaron Martin has joined Coventry on loan till the end of the season. Hopefully this will get his career back on track and he might get a regular run of games - something his career craves. Good Luck Aaron! http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/article/defender-makes-coventry-switch-677073.aspx
Never understood the vilification of Aaron...he was okay when he was brought in at first because of injuries. We moved too fast for many of our players...not being good enough for Saints doesn't make you a bad player. Good luck Aaron..get your career back on track.
Maybe he'll be a late developer, like a certain Rickie Lambert. I liked the lad when he played against Leeds at the start of the championship season. I never thought he was as bad as some made out, and there were games when he showed he had something about him. Whatever, I wish him well, and will watch Coventry's results with interest.
Good player. Very young for a centre back and played well when called upon in the Championship + League One.
Problem with defenders is mistakes lose games. Strikers and Midfielders can have bad games and often go unpunished. We saw yesterday what a bad game for Hooiveld and Fox cost us. Unfortunately for Martin he had a few bad games and that's where all the hate came from. He's a good player and needs game time to develop, which he wasn't going to get here. I hope Coventry give him a chance, he is still young and could have a very comfortable League 1 or Championship career ahead of him.
If you asked Chelsea fans whether Jack Cork was a rubbish player a few seasons ago, I'm sure some of them would say yes. I expect some would still say so. It's all relative. Aaron Martin is a fine player, who may yet become good enough, with experience, to play for Saints. If not, I'm sure there will be plenty of lower tier clubs who would welcome him.
