Its that time of year when we start to debate it so thought i would get it going. For me Player of the season is B Johnson. He is the palyer IMO that has had the best tranformation under houghton and now is the first name on the team sheet each week. (well with bassong next to it) I know a lot of people will say he cant pass but if you watch his game he is not there for the defence splitting pass, he is there to break paly up and disrupt the flow of the opposition which he does so well. I know a lot of norwich fans will vote for Karama just on the back of his cult status already, but the vote for me is in the name player of the SEASON (not 10 games) the only reason i could see a vote for kamara happening from me is if we were in the relegation zone and he scored 10 plus goals in ten games to keep us up. OTBC
Bassong for me Mr Reliable has saved us so many times and always plays with a smile Think he might get pushed by Snoddy who is showing his worth and plays with great determination
It's a tough one this year as there have been a few that has been consistent - Wes, BJ, Tettey, Snodgrass & Bassong but even after a shaky start Turner is looking okay and of course the big man at the back, JR. To that end I think, unless someone scores a bag of goals in the next month or so, it is going to be very close but I would go with Bassong as his influence at the back becomes even more obvious when he is not on the pitch.
Difficult this! I feel Holty, given his new role, has been outstanding whilst staying very much under the radar! Other than that, it has to be Bassong for the way he has brought out the best in those around him!
Like I said yesterday. Bassong and snoddy are fighting it our for me But kei kamara is approaching fast in the rear view mirror!!
Holt has contributed hugely. In many ways just as influential as he was last season. His finish on Saturday was pretty good, that wasn't an easy chance to put in the net.Bassong though for me at the moment. When QPR got Samba I wrote on their board that Bassong was just as good.I think how things have transpired I was being very generouis to the £12million man.
Poll? In my opinion Turner has been hugely under praised this season (not helped by the moaners). Yes, he had a slow start but he's been brilliant sense. Problem is those first few games gave him a sort of 'reputation' and he's nothing like the player he has been since. The same goes for Bassong, his mistakes go UNnoticed which sometimes leads to overpraise but both have been brilliant. Snodgrass is high up for me as his game has developed significantly. As I said on another post his game has improved so much. To begin with he didn't run with the ball at all and appeared too afraid to. Now he's doing it regularly and fairly well, creating chances. Proof to QPR that if you want to improve a team you can do it on the training ground instead of buying a new player. Johnson has also been great. Now me of the main players in the team who works well with the defence and the wingers. My player of the season has to go to Johnson. Closely followed by Turner and Bassong.
It's Snodgrass and Bassong for me as well, but there are still 11 matches to go. I think Snods edges it because of his all round game, taking on defenders, crossing, scoring from set pieces, but also tracking back to support the FB really well with a lot of vital tackles and interceptions. Holt and Johnson are also up there, as is Wes, and Bunn has done a great job coming in for Ruddy.
Yup, for me it's between Snodgrass and Bassong with the latter probably in pole position. Johnson, Turner and Wes wouldn't be far away in my eyes and should get some votes, and Ruddy would surely be right up there had he not got injured, but it should clearly be between the two mentioned based on the season thus far
It has to be Bassong for me. Commanding, composed and determined - all the attributes required for a top class centre back. Bradley Johnson, despite his obvious limitations, has also been fantastic all season.
I like Snodgrass's sheer determination you can tell he absolutely hates losing, he likes to argue, a lot of people can fault him for being petulant but I see it as being passionate for our cause.
I agree with all this fella, just one thing though - what are Johnson's "obvious limitations" exactly? I hear all this talk from certain people about how dreadful his passing game is, but this is at odds with what I actually see with my own eyes as I wouldn't say his passing was that bad at all personally, and certainly not as bad as has been made out. Ok, he's no Ian Crook, and it's not the main strength of his game, but I think to single out his passing as being poor is very harsh personally.
Yes that probably came across much harsher than I actually meant it to. All I was alluding to is the fact that he is more of a workhorse than one know for guile and technical ability. His passing certainly isn't dreadful although it is certainly an area in which further improvements can be made. To be fair to him, his passing has already come on leaps and bounds this year.
After hearing criticisms of Johnson's passing I have made sure to see his passing and while, as Munky says, his passing isn't something to take note of, I see no problem with it at all.
Several good candidates this year. Bassong edges it for me for the three goals he has scored so far this season, especially the last minute equaliser at Everton. With Holt playing in a loan striker role we need other players to step up to the mark to score.
Christ, that's news to me. I know there's a (very) active thread about Wes and the best team shape to best accommodate him, but I had no idea Holt was going out on loan
