Just got back from Wembley; what a day!! Easiest Wembley trip Iâve ever had â many thanks to all of you who recommended driving to Denham and catching the train in, was so quick and easy. The match was equally easy; a game too far for Bradford who showed us far too much respect, but the Swans were majestic and professional in the way they dispatched them â special mention to the Bradford fans though who were magnificent throughout, getting louder and more animated the further their team went behind. But the thing I wanted to talk about is coincidental or supernatural â whatever your belief may be. In the Championship play off, applause was planned as a tribute to Besian on the 40th minute, but Dobbie scored just as we were about to start clapping. In the build up to the Capitol One final Ash Williams asked fans to remember Besian in the 40th minute. Myself and bro kept an eye on the clock and, on the 39th minute, prepared to stand up and clap â what happens? Michu scores on 40!!!!! Have to say it sent a shiver down my spine! Two major games; two 40th minute goals that were fitting, if unplanned, tributes to Besian! Any thoughts?
I think he's up there looking down mate, taken to young definitely! But we scored with 15 minutes on the click when people were going to celebrate Robbie James as well.
Besian Idrizaj - Swans player who died of a heart attack, aged 22, on 15 May 2010. His squad number was 40 - hence the 40th minute tributes.
