LFC fan in peace, we have been linked with him in the press today

Im not on the wind up, just interested to see what your gut feelings are on this.TBH its the Mirror, who generally when it comes to LFC transfer stories at least are unreliable as f**k, if it where Tony Barrett in the Times would say it is defo true, but it aint.

Firstly do the see him signing a new deal, b4 the summer/in the summer, Im guessin his contract is up summer 2014

My feeling is I wouldnt be surprised if there is some interest, but I suspect there may not be if there wasnt a certain Andy Carroll on the books.

I would vote ben arfa as our second best player, behind Cabaye. Due to experience. This is as talented a footballer as i have seen. unfortunatley he has been stunted by injuries.

I would put a price tag of 30m on him as a fair deal, no rip off.

I think he will sign a new contract and stay here for a few years to see what goes on. Alot of french around him to make it feel like home.

My opinion is if the transfer was to cost more than £10m , there is ZERO chance LFC would be interested.I suspect if they are showing interest, the 2 reasons for that intersested are, the fact he has less than 18 months left on his deal AND the fact LFC may struggle to get a reasonable fee for Andy Carroll where he to leave. If LFC are struggling to get a decent fee in the summer for Carroll, and Ben Arfa still hasnt signed a new deal, I suspect LFC may approach Newcastle about a possible swap deal. Like I say I dont see LFC spending more than £10m on Ben Arfa, they
will have what they see as younger, better targets with less baggage, despite the massive improvement in his attitude since playing for Newcastle

I do think Ben Arfa will not sign a new deal though until at least the summer, and then see what his options are

Our owner, as you know only sells for daft monety (AC @ £35m being one example).
He will ask for at least £20m for HBA.... or maybe £10m+ AC but Carrolls stock has fallen massively.

£10m + AC for a guy with 12 months left of his deal...............................................................<laugh>I will bet you any sum want that doesnt happen.

A lot more likely, Newcastle will be forced to sell HBA in the for about £10m possible less at the risk of him leaving for nothing the summer after

Ben Arfa signed a 4.5 year contract in January 2011. He'll have 24 months left this summer, not 12. Any bidding club would most likely have to cough up north of £20m.

If he were to leave it would be to one of Europe's top clubs. He's that good.

    Absolute non starter.

Why would he even want to go there? He looks an intelligent lad.

I don't think there's much chance of this happening. I think he would only be tempted by one of the top four or PSG who have bundles of cash and are the club he supports.

I really don't see Liverpool as a side that is much better than us. The current league position doesn't mean anything.

It appears Ben Arfas contract does finish in 2015, I apologise for assuming it finished in 2014.In that case I think your right the fee would be closer to £20m if he were to leave, and theres zero chance of LFC payin that for him.The only way he could possibly end up at LFC is if Carroll was involved.TBH I dont see anyone paying £20m or close for him, so I can see him stayin with you in the long term

Some players play incredibly well at 'lesser' clubs but never shine at the very top (Pienarr at Everton - no disrespect to Everton, they've been incredible this year and he has been part of the reason, but he was a flop at Spurs) others are steady at top clubs but never reach those heights at lesser clubs (Nicky Butt, John Oshea etc.) in my opinion Ben Arfa could play at any level! He's pulled out some world class performances against poor cup teams, angry Sunderland players and Premier League champions (as well as for his country)...I honestly think with Sissoko, Cabaye and Tiote behind him and Gouffran on the other wing, Ben Arfa will show just how good he truly is (and I believe that to be world class)

Zero chance of him going for less than 20 mil this year! Heart says he will sign a new contract head says probably will this summer if PSG don't come knocking. Other than that zero chance of Ashley letting him go to Liverpool for less than Carroll, Ashley must be rubbing his hands at the prospect of getting LFC bent over the negotiating table again.

We need him ourselves, very good players for £5-6m are very hard to find. When we do get them we would certainly want excessive reward for their transfer.

We won't sell HBA this season unless:

    a. someone offers daft money, and/or

    b. he starts lobbying for a move.

He's pretty happy here and knows he's been well treated so he would only lobby for a move for a much more attractive club. Without wanting to be insulting in any way, LFC aren't.

I really dont understand people thinking 20m just because of his contract

    Modric went for how much?

Hatem is still very young, he is very very talented and is worth at least 25m Anything less than that is insulting to the player
