I'm not happy with what oneil has done this season ,but I guess he needs another season I think anyway but things need to change big time or we are just going to spend every season just getting bye and I don't think that is acceptable 1 stop signing has been s your sahas, wes browns 2 players from relegated clubs who have the losing mentality , fletch the exception 3 get a good scouting network in place 4 let's start getting defenders under the age of 30 with a bit of pace Anyone else care to add to the list Think maybe some of the back room staff could do with a shuffle as well, this season has been a total write off and were still in danger of going down
You're giving Mon a hard time and yet 7 md those players are not his? That's the real problem. The ****e he was left to work with in the first place. He needs at least 2 full seasons to get the ****e out and some better players in.
That`s the hit right there. Because they`re ****e he can`t get rid. Nobody wants them. Don`t know how long the contracts are, (or the wages). He might be forced to let them wind down or take the loss on free xfers. Not good either way.
Tbh most were signed on the cheap or on a free anyway as for contracts haven't got a clue , but I would let them all go on a free just to clear the wage bill would get **** all for them. Cest I respect the fact you back oneil I wish I had the faith you do and while I take on board what you say about the ****e he has to work with let's not forget Bruce brought in some good players as well ,oneil has been at the club long enough now and we have not moved foward it's as Simple as that its a results buisness and results have not been good enough . The club status in the prem means more to me than 1 man just how I feel
There is along way to go yet matey ktf, I'll start to worry a little if we get beaten at home next week by another 1 man team
You missed O Shea and Cattermole of that list !. O Shea has played his best in his Man u days, and Cattermole is a liability.
Hopefully we will be attacking... I can see the crowd dwindling if we play the same type of system next season. We will just have to wait and see how the summer pans out.
2 actual fullbacks to that list please, also I heard Laudrap''s interview after the game yesterday and he was on about how they have never conceded first against the big teams as their aim is to get the first goal, which is the total opposite to ourselves, I really do hate the way we are playing at the minute but we have to as we dont have the personnel to attack. A lot of comparison is being made to Swansea but they really are the model football team at the minute for teams outside the top 6, makes you wonder what we have been doing ****ing around for the past 6 seasons.
Been at the club long enough? You are just having a laugh though aren't you? Please don't tell me you honestly think 14 months is justifiably long enough. FFs. What do you think he should have actually achieved in that time to warrant your praise? European football? A top 6 free flowing wonder club? I really despair at times with my fellow fans and their pie in the sky demands. We've been absolute utter ****e for 40 odd years and perhaps for the first time in maybe all that time we have secured the services of a proven top class manager but because he hasn't replaced the below average squad he inherited with top players and have us top 8 playing top class football after 14 months, you would happily it would seem get rid of him and replace him? With who exactly? Martinez? King of the relegation strugglers? Laudrup? He still hasn't won as much as Mon in the game as a manager. Who else exactly? Let's just keep changing our manager every 14 months eh? That's bound to lead to success. I'm not looking for a fall out kidda but at times I just give up.
Won't fall out mate this is a forum and everyone has an opinion But this whole world class manager thing is wearing thin know , I world class manager can work with what he has got and still get results , oneil after 14 months still carnt even get to grips with how to line the team up ,his systems don't suit our team yet he continues to do the same thing , and were is the plan b mate. If fletch or graham get injured were ****ed why is that because he brought 1 striker in to the club and then let wickham out on loan , managane were is he still not fit enough and were at the back end of the season now . To many things he does just leave me scratching my head like I said mate world class he is not and if you asked me if another manager was to come in play positive and lose rather than play negative and still lose ,then there is no contest is there.
Been over this before and whilst MON is not beyond reproach, the sensible view is the long-term one that says give him the time and means to do for us what he did at Villa, i.e. get us in the top 6 consistently. I don't think there's anything wrong with the aspirations in the OP, but we can't expect him to right the ship in one go. A lot of the stuff you want is probably going on in the background anyway.
But Villa were nee shrinking violets in the seasons before he took over, they were in a fairly healthy state.
Wickham is on a short term loan (can be recalled at any time) to get him match fit as he hasnt had many games due to not being goood enough. Mon didnt buy him. Campbell and Ji also gone as neithjer are good enough either. If you think ANY other manager could work with the average set of players Bruce left us with then youre welcome to that thought but I will tell you imo you are totally and utterly wrong. He has already started to weed out the weak and replace them with much better but if you also think a magic wand can be waved and everything would be champion then youre either deluded, not very well versed in football matters, or just not a Mon supporter in the first place (this I suspect is the real reason you are anti O'Neill). It took him the first 4 or 5 months to learn about his players and then we have ahd 2 transfer windows to begin the rebuilding. If you honstly though he could come in here and after 3 weeks start to buy and sell in last Januarys window then again I would questionyour understanding of the game. Now, I have never said he is beyond reproach - far from it actually - but I think he deserves better support form us at SAFC than 14 months? Dont you? If this time next season we are still struggling then I will join you as he will have had 2 further windows to work players in and out and he will have had over 2 years to make a positive impression. Until then, i will continue to offer my support to him as a truly top class manager (no -one ever said world class) and one with the kind of track record we have all dreamed of most of our lives. Those of us who have been a regular for the past 4 decades anyway. I suspect you may be a younger lad and not had the indignity of some of the utter crap.
32 mate so have seen my fair share of garage and while I was not around to see Montgomerys wonder double save or porterfields goal I'm well educated in all things safc as my dad rip was a die hard fan as well and took me to games as a wee lad but all that aside let's just agree to disagree I'm not anti oneil as I would like him to do well I just carnt see it happening and you are right there is no magicwand to wave with safc but still while you think I'm anti oneil I'm starting to think maybe you have a man crush on him
nope, they were up **** creek pal finishing 16th in 2005/06 before he took over. in the season before - 2004/05 - they finished 10th, and 6th the season before....so in a definite slump. then with O'Neill: 2006/7 - 11th 2007/8 - 6th 2008/9 -6th 2009/10 -6th then they fell back down to 9th in the 10/11 season when he left (and we had our best finish in recent memory of 10th), ....before falling back down to 16th last season. all history and heresay but he does need longer, esp with all the crap he inherited. I do find it incredibly frustrating though, the way we play and who we buy. it would be nice if we got hold of a quality quick fix, but one who could last for a few seasons.
