Hi All, A bit of help if you can indulge me (I posted this on our board also). I have two kids (4 and 8) and with Easter and then summer on the horizon i'm looking to compile a hitlist of things to do and see around the North East to keep the little cherubs entertained. They like museums as much as visiting nice parks so I suppose I won't be restricted to 'typical' indoor kiddie kinds of things. Are there any places near you or that you have been to that you can recommend as a good place to go and visit? Thanks in advance and hopefully other parents may find some of what is to follow useful. Rgds, ACS
Howick house (spelling) Earl Greys old house nice gardens and a good tea room with massive cakes for the kids to gorge themselves on. Bowes is okay if you don't mind the journey and, you can visit Barney Castle at the same time. One for yourself or any adults Masham on a Saturday visit the market then go to the Black Sheep Brewery for dinner and a tour quite few kids there when I went last year.
When I was a bit younger I always loved a walk along the beach, wasting (my dads) 2 pences in the amusements followed by a bag of chips and a stick of candy rock. Seahouses I'd recommend
Join Beamish especially if you're going to return, saves you loads. Finchale Abbey, not just for the priory but the riverside is nice and flat in lots of places not too deep for little ones. My kids and grand kids love to go there and skoit (Spelling?) stones, and you don't need to be standing over them all the time. High Force. Flamingo Land (Drive into the caravan part tell the security guard you want to go to the office to see about hiring a van. Park up and walk through to the back of the Zoo have a nice day and drive back out the way you came. )
I can highly recommend Sunderland for a day out and about. You could visit the SOL club shop to brighten up your day too. p.s. You are much nicer as ACS as opposed to NMG. Perhaps we shall be graced with a 2nd alter ego in order to complete a trinity of trinitys one day!
Its those old bad tempered witches, that hang around the City Centre selling lucky heather piss me off. Be helpful and tell them to get a proper job, and are they grateful? Are they ****, swear at you and curse you and your children for the foreseeable future.
