Ramirez on for Davis, methinks. Davis was pretty anonymous, and we might need to roll the dice on a moment or two of magic...while Gaston doesn't tend to thrive against pressing, we need something a little more incisive than what we've had.
Not worried yet. Our last three away games (Chelsea, Utd, Wigan) we've gone in at HT behind, having played pretty poorly, but have come out a different team in the second half. Maybe because we're losing, maybe because of our fitness levels, maybe a mixture of both. I would though expect to see Gaston and/or Puncheon fairly soon.
Need to make changes at half-time to get back in this. Ref has been poor but so have we. Does Mauricio have a Plan B? We shall see. Personally, I'd bring Puncheon on for Davis, go two up front and a little more direct.
Uhm I think a Newcastle win looks most likely right now? They're all over us and deserve to be ahead, we need to change our tactics in a major way to be in with a chance of getting back into this...
Exaggeration. We could have also conceded a whole load of penalties that we haven't. I think we're pretty much even at the moment. Though, I'd take another dubious decision in our favour today!
Referee hasn't had a great half but you can only control the controllables, we've regressed into our shell and Newcastle have pressured us in to mistakes (Shoe firmly on the foot). Lallana has barely been involved and so far Rodriguez down the right isn't really working. The test of the high-pressure was always going to come - long balls and people running at you. Newcastle have set themselves up very nicely and since Cisse won't get much change out of Jos or Maya, they've got themselves into some very nice 2-on-1 situations outwide for diagonals, case in point being their second goal. We need to settle down and get into our rhythm, and make sure Newcastle's priority is holding onto their lead and not putting us away.
We're statistically the worst team in the league in the second half of games this season, this is far from over. That being said I think we've played well SO FAR and deserve to be winning. You guys have a right to feel aggrieved by the second goal but I don't think you can argue with the justness of the scoreline in terms of quality of play
Once we get a bit of possession and we pass it forward the receiver gets taken down with a foul, no call is made, and NU runs the other way. It is no wonder we cannot keep possession. Not sure how we get around that unless Foy pulls his head out of his ....
Agree totally. You've been the better team, and deserve to lead...but I'm still a little annoyed by the two decisions that lead to the particulars of how you're leading.
Rickie's had some tough luck with free-kicks, he's hit some cracking efforts this season but unlucky this far, hit the woodwork a couple times and some very nice saves.
