Morning guys Sargent mattie out today 5.20 fontwell, someone put this up last Sunday I think and it was a NR might have been stick....7/4 today any thoughts guys cheers
3.25 Handsome Buddy EW I backed this one very early doors. He has some interesting runs in the book that suggest to me that he isn't a complete back number off a mark of 94, including when sixth on chase debut at Warwick in a modest Novice Chase. He jumped well enough in the main and the fences at Warwick take a little bit of jumping, he looked to me to be the sort who could improve with racing over fences, and it is interesting that they have found a race on soft ground for him, having seemingly waited for the better ground over the winter. On breeding this step up in trip looks to suit (Presenting out of a Phardante mare) and he shouldn't get outpaced by this field. I also think they were running him fit in the Autumn NH races, and I hope that with those runs and a little break, he is cherry ripe for his handicap chase debut.
16:50 Fontwell - The Bishops Baby e/w (@ 18/1 with Hills) (Mare lightly-raced recently, but 2010/2011 form pretty decent and consistent. LTO run in bumper at Kempton would have been beneficial, so she should be about ready to give a good run, hopefully!). Best of luck everyone, will be watching the Rugby, of course!
I'd be very surprised if Defy Logic couldn't see off notorious twicer Don Cossack. The Mullins mare rates more of a threat imo. Meanwhile, at idiosyncratic gaff track Fontwell, Shoegazer can get the better of Poungach, who wants further, and Tenor Nivernais, who may be let down by his jumping.
What does everyone think about Prospect Wells today then? Will he be laying down a marker for cheltenham today? Nicholls seems to think this horse will stay 3 miles so if he takes this in style will he be world hurdle comtender? Has his ground today....
Take a chance on £220000 classical twist in the first at towcester at 25s. The form of his p2p race is reasonable and he may well have badly needed his first run lto
A break reinvigorated lava lamp over the winter last season. Fingers crossed it has a similar effect this time round. 12/1 in the 4.50 at fontwell. Market support which is a plus.
An across the card treble of jollies to start the day. Really looking forward to seeing the very smart handicapper DARK LOVER take on graded opposition today, I think he is up to it. In Ireland I can see DEFY LOGIC really shaking up the Neptune betting again! I can see NASS's selection needing a oxygen to get up Towcesters hill and my bet today is a double on FINANCIAL CLIMATE 7-2 Fontwell 3.15 & BADGERS COVE 11-4 Towcester 4.30.
Fontwell is described as 'Soft' but I will assess that when I watch the opening race there, as I'd imagine its slightly better than that. If it looks pretty sound, then my selection below will be backed. If it looks a bit testing, I'll leave it. 3.45 Fontwell: BRAMPOUR 4/1 He gives 4lb to some useful rivals but I think that is compensated for by the return to a sounder surface. He was miles behind Oscar Whiskey and people might say looked out of form, but remember he was on heavy ground twice and he absolutely hates it. (Incidentally, the last time he was in testing conditions is the only other time he has been well beaten- in a soft ground handicap at Ascot behind Raya Star last season). He has some fabulous runs on a sound surface and where the Prospect Wells hype comes from I will never know. I'd much prefer a horse on a sounder surface who has tight formlines which we can measure through and against Champion Hurdle horses, as opposed to a horse who was a never nearer 5th in what looks the poorest Supreme Novice for a couple of years. He was a clear-cut winner of the Greatwood when staying on strongly, was beaten 4 lengths when 3rd to GRANDOUET in the International Hurdle at Cheltenham, and was beaten 11L in the Champion Hurdle itself. It is rock solid form. Dark Lover is interesting but this is a big ask, and will the small field suit?
There are three things I really dont understand today NASSboy. 1) Why there is a gamble on that nag you are on. (HANDSOME BUDDY) 2) Why Priest Island is a warm fav for the 4.50 3) Why Cayman Island is 2-1 today I guess all will be revealed. PS; When you text me "Handsome Buddy" last night I thought "that's nice, maybe a little over friendly but nice"
(apparently) Andrew Tinkler thinks Simonsig is better than Sprinter Sacre. What the ****. (but went on to say he wouldn't back him at odds on against Overturn). I'm confused. ------------------- Grandouet is fine but Binocular is flying. Far West for the triumph over Rolling Star. I'll update the preview page.
